I’m having issues with my key not turning the ignition all the way to start my 95 tacoma. I got it into accessory position and pulled the switch out. I can use pliers to start the truck will the steering lock up if I drive it this way? It wasn’t locked before and turns freely now.

Have been having an issue with the key not turning every now and then but usually works after a few tries. I would wiggle the wheel cause most cars like some sort of reset and notice it was never locked but forgot about it immediately after so never verified if it ever locked at all. Who knows what previous owners have done. Should have a new ignition by tomorrow anyways

Yeah nothing last forever....and oem one should last 150K or more...

    a clone.....anybodies guess.....

Most locks you can rejuvenate with a little graphite ......but with the switch contacts being right under that.....
.....thats not such a good idea....

Sometimes with a silicone spray or wd 40 you can get the pins to retract one last time so you can get it run position to take it all apart....
