I have a 2007 Tacoma TRD Off Road. When driving away from a stop I feel movement in the driveline or a clunk. I’ve had the issue for about 10k miles. No other issues or noises, truck runs perfect.

Any idea on what is causing the issue?

Is the clunk when you release the breaks or when you hit the gas?

When I come to a stop and then let off the brake I feel a clunk, or movement in the driveline. When I apply throttle after a stop, I feel the same clunk momentarily. Otherwise I never feel or hear the noise while driving. The suspension and driveline feels tight, with no issues. Any idea what is causing the issue?

When's the last time you replaced the brakes and greased you u-joints?

Just had rear brakes replaced and oil change and lube done.

My advice then would be to start eliminating possibilities. Jack up the front end and start wiggling things to see if they have play. You wheels, your control arms. Check your front calipers, pins, pads. Check ball joints too.

    Look up "axle wrap"

Pretty common on Tacomas. Mine does it too. Some people have fixed it by torquing u-bolts and / or upgrading leaf springs.

The first places I would check are the slip joint and the center carrier bearing.

Grease the u-joints and if (when) that doesn't solve it replace the center carrier bearing.

Torque your u bolts down, they were loose on both of my trucks and my dads, and caused them to feel very clunky.

Was your problem ever solved? I feel like I have the same issue. I feel it in my front end though, you describe the same clunk on start and stop as I have.
