About 2000 miles ago I paid the dealer to fix a bunch of items. One of those was a clunk when starting to move that I just couldn’t figure out. To my surprise the mechanic said it was a worn spider joint just behind the carrier bearing. It was replaced and now no more clunk. Every 5k miles I change the oil and also shoot a couple a pumps of grease into the drive line. Today with 190k miles I changed the oil and noticed 2 things. First, the front and back zerks are 180 degrees from each other. Second, the replaced spider in the middle does not have a zerk grease fitting. The truck has zero vibration from 0-90 mph.

Is it phased correctly or should I make them check the phase? With no vibration should I just be happy?

dealers sell a non serviceable propshaft.

driveshaft shops rebuild and balance used propshaft with new CB and spider greasable Ujoints under $300, to be greased as maintenance.

    It’s a valid argument.
    They should be stronger.

They are definitely better for people that don’t grease their zerks.

I guess the argument for the zerks are for having the ability to “freshen up” the grease and push water out if it gets in there. But there again. If water is getting is, it won’t be long for this world anyways.
I’m just old school, I can’t convince myself zerkless is better. When in fact, they are probably just as good.

zerkless u joint is fine... i prefer greaseable ones with zerks... we dont need the extra strength from the zerkless ones in our application.

Now TYPICALLY from what I have seen on factory drive shafts they line the zerks up to make for easier greasing.... and as you mentioned if thats the case they replaced the driveshaft 180deg out. Which isnt going to mess with u joint phasing (which occurs at 90*s) but will effect balancing of the ENTIRE unit. But its probably so minimal that its not that big of a deal from a balancing perspective.

This all stated, if your center joint was shot, your rearmost is likely following close behind.
