Anybody else have this? I first noticed it in in upstate New York, morning temps were pretty cool then. Starting to notice it fairly regularly now, as temps are starting to go down with fall coming on. I greased all of the zerks I could find, just a few days after getting the truck actually. I felt like it would go away with some break in, but has not.

The frequency of the squeak seems too fast to be a wheel bearing or brake issue. Idling through a parking lot yields a squeak about twice a second, so I suspect driveshaft. Noise does go away at anything other than idling around. BTW 7k miles, so I feel like everytning should be broken in by now.

    Thoughts?

Idling as in true idling or moving around? Does it increase/decrease in frequency as speed changes? If so, check u-joints. You'd probably need to pull the driveshaft to verify the joints though. I've also had build-up of mud create a squeak where the rear driveshaft went into the transfer case on another vehicle.

If it is not dependent on speed of the driveshaft rotating, check if it is happening as you go over bumps/rock the truck. Could be an improperly installed body mount bushing (most likely at the radiator core support).

This assumes you are positive it isn't coming from the engine.

My truck is spotless underneath, no mud. It doesn't even know what a rock looks like yet. It does increase or decrease frequency with speed, but really only noticeable at idle, pulling around in parking lot speeds, aka less than 10 miles per hour. I don't suspect a u-joint, but maybe a dust boot or carrier bearing boot. Just throwing this out there to see if anybody else has this, I really haven't had time to diag this.

Jack up the truck, crawl under and grab the driveshaft(s) and slowly rotate back and forth to see if you can hear the squeak. You should be able to see if it is where it goes into the diffs, or transfer case or carrier bearing.

It's very possible that it is squeaking above that mph range but you just can't hear it anymore.

Also if it happens while cold as well, spin all four tires by hand to make sure it isn't a slightly out of round rotor/drum making the sound. I had an out of round drum squeal so loud at low speeds before, but that was usually on the brakes. It's easy to rule out though.

The fact that it increases and decreases with speed in that range at least helps you narrow it down to a rotating assembly.

Could it be leaf springs? I know my 2nd gen has squeaky leaf springs that I only notice when idling around parking lots. Maybe 3rd gen has the same springs? :notsure:

Not leaf springs, definitely a rotational noise.

It's definitely a rotational noise, but is too fast for the speed the tires/wheels are travelling. Driveshaft turns faster than wheels, and that seems to be the source. All greasable u-joints have been greased, a few days after I got the truck actually. Was mainly wondering if any other 3rd gen guys had any similar issues like me. I am/have been a tech for 15 yrs or so, lots of experience with noise/vibration/harshness issues, I just simply have not had time to really look into the issue yet (I have a one year old)...

maybe it's the u joint's that aren't greaseable? 2017 only has 2 zerks in front vs 5 on a 2016, no? maybe its one of the 3 u joints after the transfer case?

I haven't seen this issue posted here yet so definitely update us if you figure it out. I know a bound up u joint or one where the needle bearings either fell over or out during install can cause the noise and you can't diagnose it without pulling the driveshaft since there won't be any noticeable play in the u joint.

Almost 15,000 kms on mine now and the rear leafs have been squeaking like crazy. I've kept in contact with my dealer about it and there is now a TSB for 3rd gen leaf spring squeek. Replacement of isolator pads and a "special" lubricant. I have an appointment later this week. Fingers crossed.
