Picked mine up for the second time. This time they put the new Engine Mount in and the steering damper. of course it didn't fix anything, but they had to do that before they measured the angles. Anyway looks like they ordered 48220-04220 and 48210-04580 for the leaf springs. Said it's gonna take about a week to get the parts in. The work order says "Angle between 0.3 and 1.5 degrees so i'm not sure why they ordered those parts, but I trust their judgement.

did you have the previous driveline TSB done? if not they DEFINITELY ordered the wrong part.

Also i would request they order the firm ride pack as you will get the better 4 leaf pack vs the 3 leaf.

My truck is going in on Wednesday to have this done....hope they get it right. I did at least get confirmation that they have the angle finder, so that's a good start.

2014 TRD OR here...only vibration I notice is under moderate to heavy acceleration from a stop. Would this TSB apply?

To my knowledge the previous TSB was never done. When I got the truck I registered it online with ToyotaCare and it didn't have any maintenance records. The work order didn't mention anything about a previous TSB either. I guess when I take it back in, they'll put those on and realize it didn't fix anything... Looking at the TSB, What parts would have been the correct ones?

What's the advantage of the firm ride setup over the 3 leaf?

That is exactly what this TSB is for.

Looking at it some more, I'm really not sure. Since I believe I have Standard suspension (It's a Base model with TSS package, and it rides rough so i'm assuming standard suspension) and the TSB wasn't performed, I need to refer to Table 3. Table 3 says for Angle between 0.3 and 1.5 for a 4x4 Double Cab is correct parts, but then there's a 4x4 Double Cab S-Long. Is that the long bed? Because I have the long bed model, which correlates to the VDS (My VIN has MU4FN1 in it) but there's not a spot on the table for the Long Bed with angle between 0.3 and 1.5, they're using the short bed code and springs. I'm guessing that would probably make a significant difference.

EDIT: Ok nevermind, it looks like on the Table 3 for the Long Bed, it has a angle between -0.1 and 1.1 degrees with the same parts that I got ordered. I really wish they put the Joint Angle on here. My guess is the angle is somewhere between 0.3 and 1.1 and they originally saw the short bed column but then realized it was the same part for the long bed. I think i'm good.

Im so happy i found thread for the TSB, i went into the dealer yesterday complaining about turbulence/vibration while driving. They said it was normal and walked away.

Also also noticed that clunk noise in the rear....

    Thanks TW

im assuming they walked away because it has been told before a bunch of times.

Should i be worried that my truck is an I4 auto prerunner 2wd DC? A lot of feedback throughout this whole thread has been mostly v6 engines, and a couple pages back about the Regular CAB I4 not being apart of the TSB.

its a prerunner so my suspension is basically the same as the 4x4 brothers

I noticed that when I take my truck in to have it serviced they dont even follow the tire pressure that is posted on the door which is 29 front 32 rear they go straight to 35 all around. I had it in and when I drove it home it rattled at 70mph. I dropped the pressure the next morning to what the door says and it is significantly less and tracks better on the highway. I still have stock tires and rims on my'11 I think i have a hard spot on one of my tires and have had it in multiple times for balancing but nothing worked, finally just figured i would deal with it. Really frustrating since my toyota care just ran out and i dont want to pay for balancing when I know thats not the case.

Just got my truck back from the dealer. They ordered the insulator and a new 3-leaf pack, unfortunately. I requested the 4-leaf pack but they said they can't do that because the VIN does not call for it. Has anyone else got this answer? And has anyone done the TSB with the "new" 3-leaf pack and seen good results?

I could give that a try, but they seemed like they wouldn't budge because of the VIN number. He said if I wanted the 4-leaf I'd have to pay.

My 2013 OR came with the three leaf pack. Had the TSB done and the dealer replaced my leafs with 4 leaf pack at my request. Guess it's going to depend on the dealer.

According to the tsb the off road package should of come with the firm ride suspension in the first place. but if your taco was built before October 2013 and you have the TRD or... You got the standard 2 leaf + overload

To the person a few up saying they wouldn't order the 4 leaf... Put 400 lbs of weight in the bed... And show up to the dealer and state you want the 4 leaf pack as the truck is bottoming out. The squeaky wheel gets the grease... If they need a vin number tell them one moment... Walk out to a TRD sport on the lot and copy that vin

I like your style. I will be moving in a few weeks, so I will make sure to load down the bed and bring it to the dealer. It just bugs me that some dealers do it with no questions and others are so anal. It's not money out of their pocket, so what does it matter? There should be some communication between dealers and Toyota. Maybe then they could fix issues on the first try.

Please clarify the leaf spring count.

3 springs is two with a helper or 3 springs is three with helper?

My '13 trd sport has 3 with a helper.

It does cost them money...Toyota pays them a lower shop rate to perform warranty repairs than does the regular "walk in" customer. I agree they should smile and take it..but some Service Managers pay plans make them feel "forced" to turn away the questionable warranty work
