    ANOTHER TSB.... jezus.

Sounds like the guy had old information as dealers were told to hold off on the OLD tsb in order for this new TSB 0008-14

I bought the 2014 TRD Sport 4X4. Now has 3500 miles with a leveling kit. Getting a pop/thud from the right rear when going over 45mph tracks or other bumps. Have not yet taken it to the dealer. I have checked u-bolts and re-torqued. What should I look for??

I would bet he's wrong and he's talking about the previous TSB. TSB-0008 is the newest one and seems to be working rather well based on reviews here in this thread, me included.

I really don't know what kind of BS is going on but I can wait a couple months to see if any new updates come out. I found it a bit odd when the rep said TSB-0008 doesn't fix the problem. I'm sure Bueller is right and they're going off of old information.

The reason I said that is because when I took my truck in the first time, I got the same exact answer as you did. I had to be the one to tell them about TSB-0008 as they knew nothing about it. It took three dealers before I found one that knew what they were looking at and performed the TSB.

Anyone know if they'd do this TSB if I've installed helper air bags?

agreed. when I went in the foreman said doesn't work and he had not yet done 0008-14....mine was the first 0008-14 and it worked great and the foreman wrote it all up and send it back to toyota corp that it worked.

for every tsb installed that works or doesn't work, toyota corp. tracks it all

Best thing you can do... PRINT OUT THE TSB AND SHOW IT TO THEM.... from my expierence you literally have to force feed them the knowledge as 95% of them dont know much more than how to change oil... and barley at that.

They would not do the TSB on my truck because I added the Toytec adjustable COs on the front of mine to carry the weight of the heavy plate bumper. It is at almost exactly stock height and they said no way... They consider it a lift/leveling kit. My argument was that it is currently no different than just buying new stock replacements from Napa and they said no way.

please reread the tsb and understand why any modified suspension throws out the ability to perform the tsb. the protractor can only measure accurate angles if vehicle is ride height front and back. it is measuring to 1/10th degree. if front is lifted in the slightest the angles will be off therefore garbage measurement.

    sheesh

OY... more mis information. You will get the same measured rear pinion angle with the stock rear suspension if you had the front lowered on 20in tires as you would lifted 6in with 37s... as the rear relative joint angles DONT change with regards to the front height of the truck.

nope. the protractor measures the driveshaft angle relative to the ground. any lift front or back changes the angle of the dangle and measurements are crap

but you can keep believing what you want.

no tsb if suspension modified from stock

Toyota will not ( and should not) take any responsibility for any mod to the truck relative to performin the TSB. Any mod will have to be removed back to stock; the base condition the TSB is supposed to fix. Then after the TSB put your mod back on. May be a pain, and mod may not matter to the rear angles, but that's the way it is.

I'm making an appointment for scheduling the TSB work on my prerunner. I'll tell them in the appointment the TSB number, explain what it's supposed to do, plus all the other work done incl. tire balance and alignment so they cannot blame it on something else. Also I'll ask them about the availability of the measurement tool (checked with SnapOn, it's $89.00) so when i take it in there's shouldn't be any misunderstanding.

I've NEVER had a dealer pay attention to TSB's unless they're forced to.

    Then we'll see what happens.

+1 if you can get an alignment.

the TSB geetered my front toe slightly
(even microscopic changes in back can change thrust angle and front toe)
needed front end alignment to make steering wheel centered again like it was originally

truck is 100% I could not be much happier. whole new world...I drove it one year before tsb. I guess you -can- polish a trd after all
