I will say i did not read all the posts but this my 2. My bag light went on a few months ago toyota service told me the right sensor was bad. I but u know the off light comes on if the passenger bag was turned off with the key maybe the key switch is bad. Just my 2.

Ya, I found out that my switch has no continuity in either the auto or off position, but putting a jumper wire on the connector for the switch made no difference.

Is there a way to test the 4 pressure switches that are under the passenger seat, so I can make sure they are not a problem?

I did try to "test" them by unplugging them and putting a jumper wire on the connector from the SCV and SIG wires and putting a wire from the SGD wire to ground. I did this to all four connectors (one for each sensor and at the same time of course), and this did not work either. Is this correct in thinking that these switches work by making a connection from SVC to SIG?

Also is there a way I can test the little computer under the seat (Occupant Classification ECU) and the one in the dash (Airbag Sensor Assembly Center)?

Found in the FSM how to actually test the airbag on/off switch. You test for resistance instead of continuity.

The only way to test those things unfortunately is to replace them. I was reading a diagnostic flow chart on mitchell-on-demand and the step to test the center airbag sensor assy is to replace it:(. I also found a picture of the center air bag sensor assy, it's under the cupholders mounted to floor below the dash. It pretty much says, if all your wires are good i.e. no short to ground, short to battery or open circuit and then you replace the center airbag sensor assy and the light is still on with the same code you need to replace the air bag ecu:mad:.

I was just gonna tell you that.

I hate to say it after all the work you've done, but you might end up taking it to the dealer. They have the fancy Techstream scanner that can do this diagnosing process much faster and more accurately.

Dam, it looks like I have done all I can. At least I've learned a few things in the process. I hope its covered under warranty? I have 46k on the clock and its less than 5years old.

It might still be covered. Never hurts to check.

Did the file download and work ok?

edit: I searched google and it says Toyota covers air bags under the 5/60 powertrain warranty. Hopefully you are under in time.

At first when I tried it on my mac it didn't, then I tried it on Windows 7, now it works just fine.

    Thanks again.

I'm gonna call the dealer about it, if it isn't then I'll just start throwing parts at it. I called the dealer about the occupation ECU (under pass seat) and they said there is no problem if I need to return it.

That's good to know. Most parts places don't let you return opened electronics. Let me know how it goes.:)

I'll do these checks tomorrow after my test. Looks like if the Occupant Classification ECU is bad then I need to take it to the dealer and have them calibrate it.

So today I cleared the codes and checked the codes again and now it shows me 43, 33, and 32. The only thing that they have in common (according to the FSM) is the Center Airbag Sensor Assembly.

What do you think about this?

Also my key fobs stopped working. I'm beginning to thing this has nothing to do with my airbags, and its just a loose or corroded connection somewhere. I say this because I've had a corroded connector before and it threw its self in some weird mode.

Gonna go at it with some contact cleaner and a lot more hours tomorrow.

Well I have fixed my Trip odo issue (it kept reseting every time I turned off the car). There was a blown fuse in the engine bay, it was for ECU B.

Then I fixed my keyless entry issue. I pulled out the alarm (orig. owner had it installed at the dealer) and all of its connection and spliced the wire back together that the alarm cut into.

Now I'm back to my first problem, seems most likely to be the main ECU for the airbags (at least to me).

I just put TRD seats into my base model 4x4 and had the same issue as you. Airbag light on dash and the display by the stereo for the passenger permanently in the off position.

I swapped out the computer module that the 4 sensors are hooked to under the passenger seat with my old seat and it fixed it.
