For the past 3 months i have been investigating reasons why my drivers side door 6x9 and tweeter were playing songs but producing static sounds and playing really low. Ive looked over the wiring and i’ve switched the speakers from one door to another and the static remained. I don’t know if my head unit isn’t working properly or if theres a deeper wiring issue but i tried doing my research before taking it to an audio place to diagnose it. Please help

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
Are you sure the speakers aren’t blown? Stock head unit or aftermarket? the stock speaker drivers are tiny and can’t handle much power, so an aftermarket HU (even the stock unit) can easily cook them. Conversely, beefier low-impedance aftermarket speakers can cook the stock HU. Which would affect the tweeters too as they’re wired in-line with the speakers.

I vaguely remember something about the stock system using an odd ohm rating but I could be wrong. If they’re mismatched it’d cause issues. Maybe try buying/borrowing a cheap known-good speaker to rule that out. If it suddenly works, it’s blown speakers. If not, the amplifier in the head unit could be fried.

aside from rodent damage I’ve never heard of the stock wiring going bad

The head unit is oem. I have swapped out the factory speakers with aftermarket JBL stage 3 speakers, leaving the factory tweeters and i’ve tested the speakers to make sure they work. The only thing i can think of is my head unit being cooked.

I went through this same problem. It ended up being the speaker lead on my driver side door that went to the 6x9 speaker. Corrosion was the culprit. Just buy a set on Amazon.

The tweeter is wired in parallel with the speaker so an issue in it can also prevent the speaker from working.
