@Big Black Betty - Jeremy, I just saw your thread asking for help when I posted a message and wish I would have seen it sooner to save you some aggravation if this solves your problem.

I've replaced both my door handles and neither one opens all that well. Passenger door takes two unlocks to open. Drivers door only opens with the handle completely extended.

Thank God for that video on YouTube! Getting the door open was the hardest part. Had to modify the spring since it was a bit bigger than the one that broke. But I doubt it'll ever snap again being almost twice the gauge of the last one. Cheers to all you for the support and assistance!

those are strange pics, it looks like the drivers side is on the right side in one and other pic it is on the left?

had a similar issue and I did a zip tie mod till my replacement came in. actually think it was a solid soluton, i felt like the handle would break before those tie straps.

My 02 came with keys that weren't original. I ran into the same problem and I took the door handle apart and took the thing where the key goes in and turns and took some of its little pins off until the key turned freely. It's been about 2 years and haven't had any problems with it. You really don't want to do any milling on the key because it may not start the truck up.

Be extremely careful because there are small springs under pressure and you may lose them.
