So I have a question. I have a second gen Tacoma. Ive recently found out that some 2nd gens came with a driver information display module looks like this (1st picture). My truck doesn't have one instead it has a tray for a garage door opener (2nd picture). My question is can I take the garage door piece off and plug in the display and it work as if it came with the truck?

I would take the light down to see if a harness is back there . Some one else may chime in who’s actually done this but that’s where I would start

    More than I can afford
The wiring is usually there, the temp sensor on the core support being there is hit and miss.
Looked into doing this on my X-Runner, wiring and sensor were both in place and everything was connected, would have been a plug and play, just never got around to it.

No idea if the temp/compass module will drop into the non equipped overhead console. I was just going to buy the whole thing from a salvage yard.

I wouldn't mind getting this assuming its not overpriced. If its over 100$ it's not worth it to me for a tiny little screen

So I had something like that in my 06. They had resistor issues. I had to solder in new ones. How about putting a sunglasses holder there and getting the mirror?
