    Wait for it...
I broke mine probably within the first week of owning the truck. I was so used to my SOLID armrest in my Tahoe. I've had the door panel off & half a brain to fab a "shelf" that I could rivet to the door shell that would fill that gap & add support under the plastic. The other half a brain just remembers not to lean on the armrest anymore.

I had this happen to my '12 about 2 years ago. I tried plastic welding... I couldn't get that to work but I used the plastic.rods and epoxy resin... Simple fix.and it hasn't failed yet.

Exactly how did you use the rods and resin?

well, i created a "framework" out of the plastic rods perpendicular to the crack/break and then ran another rod over those and kinda melted them together, then i used the epoxy resin to bond/cover the whole thing
it wasnt' pretty but it worked. i should have saved my money on the plastic welding rods and just used skewers or metal or similar...

Mine cracked in the same spot. I got a fiberglass patch kit from 3M and laid a few large layers underneath to try to spread the load out. It worked well, feels solid as a rock now. I do try to not pick myself up with my elbow on the armrest anymore though...

Dude, I have a big roll of non-perforated black marine grade vinyl I bought when I did mine and paid like $7 for it at a fabric store. I could cut you out a pr but probably cheaper for you to hit up a fabric store...............or send me $5 for shipping and I'll send them to you. Grain pretty much matches dash.

    armrest_cover.jpg

.....and I do still have my cloth pieces to use as templates but my doors are RC and longer than AC or DC door. Not sure if armrests are the same but if anything, RC armrests might be larger so it might just need a trim for AC or DC armrests if not same same................

mine was broken on the fastener part that connects the two pieces. tried about 3 different glues and it kept breaking. finally i went nuts with some 2 ton epoxy and i just learned to stop shoving my elbow on that part of the door.

I appreciate it, I considered black vinyl (I have grey from factory) but it still would have required me redoing at least the passenger side, I wanted the oem grey vinyl.. I dont think I can take it apart any more, I did a bad job drilling out the plastic rivets and basically glassed the whole thing back in.

Thanks guy, went online and found a marine epoxy kit and fiberglass cloth, worked very well.
Before applying, I put a little super glue in the cracks and held into place so the epoxy set everything in proper place. I also wiped it down with alcohol, sanded and wiped down again.

Wow, so I'm not alone. I lift myself up into position using my elbows, and sure enough, one cold day and pop. Not many total fail design flaws though, but this one is annoying for sure. I'll try a fix now thanks to this thread!
