Managed to break the passenger side cv axle while wheelin a few weekends ago. So I replaced it with a Napa remanufactured cv axle and I keep having issues with it slowly working its way out. At first I thought the bad wheel bearing was the source of the problem. However, after changing that out the problem remains the same. Could this possibly be a defective cv axle? The clip appears to be in good condition so I'm not exactly sure what the issue is. The truck has 47,000 miles of mostly road use. But it does get wheeled at least twice a week. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

THE ONLY THING HOLDING IT IN IS THAT C CLIP

The other thought that occurs to me is that you're not getting the axle fully seated

Yep, if the clip is there and in good condition then you probably never got it inserted all the way

I've checked the c clip and it looked fine to me. I cant imagine that the axle is not fully seated. Unless I have the oil seal in wrong, but I'm almost positive that I did it right cause otherwise it'd leak gear oil. I have the oil seal flush with the differential. Should i have it in deeper?

The inner axle joint is designed to plunge in and out according to turning radius . When you turn right , the inner axle joint plunges out . When you turn left , the inner joint plunges in . A common issue with CV axles was improper burping techniques when installing the cv boots resulting in air or additional grease causing a hydraulic lock . This would make the axle shaft much shorter than it should really be causing the axle to pop out of the differential . This was a huge issue on front wheel drive cars with all the aftermarket companies selling CV axles .
Find out how long the axle is suppose to be in the relaxed position
Find out how long the axle is suppose to be in the extended position
Find out how long the axle is suppose to be in the contracted position .
Always match up axles with the original making sure they plunge the same depth and are the same length .Look at splines and snap ring grooves as well .
Aftermarket is famous for mismatching parts .
If you turn the steering wheel all the way to the left , your new axle will be at its longest travel and you will be able to feel if the axle is in all the way . You can feel the snap ring click into the locking groove just by pulling and pushing the inner axle joint using your hands .If you turn the wheel all the way to the right and the axle pops out , the axle is too short . I would be checking axle length and the possibility that the new axle was not assembled correctly . What are the chances NAPA still has the original ?
