    Hey everyone,

I have had a vibration at around 45-55mph on the front driver side. This was going on for awhile and I tried replacing the wheel hub because a mechanic told me it was bad (didn’t fix it) and then another mechanic told me my UCA ball joints were shot but I haven’t had a chance to replace those yet.

The second issue is I went under the truck today and noticed all this grease leaking from the driver side cv boot. Do I just need to replace the boot or is something else going on?

I didn’t get good pics but it seems like it’s leaking pretty bad. The images show a little bit of it. And the color is concerning. I’m not familiar with these kind of issues so any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Pete

Is your truck lifted by chance?
It’s possible that the vibration is from needle bearing.

As for the boot, I’d replace the boot with a new axle.

Yea it is lifted but I tried that 4wd test and it didn’t seem to go away. Maybe it helped a little bit but not sure.

Anyone just take their truck to Toyota and have them reboot the axle and reinstall? Thinking about doing this and also asking them to install the ECGS bushing. Looking to hear from anyone that has gone this route or attempted to. Would also like to know what they charged.

did my own with and oem boot kit from toyota... I think it cost about 40$ 3 years ago. I had never done one before, but with youtube and this site, did the first side in about 3 hours and the second side in about an hour and ten min. Just want to make sure the axles and parts under those boots are still good. Most folks agree that stock axles are much better than most you can buy to replace with out there.
