Looking for advice and to see if anyone else has had this problem. The unlock button on the driver door doesn't work. Stealership says it was the master switch, so I got a new master switch, and problem still exist. Key fob unlocks, key works, passenger switch works, and antilock out function works. Where do I need to look at to avoid going back to the dealership and wasting my time?

If everything else works except that switch, and the actuator works, and you're 100% sure your new switch is good, it's a wiring issue... if you're not familiar with diagnosing electrical circuits might wanna have it checked out by a pro. But I'd be willing to bet you just got a bad switch. Aftermarket?

Thanks. To be honest the switch was a salvaged OEM. So there is that chance I got a bad switch to replace a bad switch. Just ironic, but it can happen. I was thinking about taking the door panel off tomorrow to look for loose wires and such. Anything past that is out of comfort zone. Thanks for your reply.

Yea my money is on a bad switch... easiest way to test it, if you have access to a wiring diagram for that switch, is figure out which wires go to the unlock switch, unplug the connector from the master switch, and use a paper clip or something to jump the wires together at the connector. If the door unlocks, it's a bad switch. If the door doesn't unlock, you got a failing actuator or wiring issue.

According to the schematic, both the inside door switches, ground the same wire into the BCM, for unlock. So, if the passenger switch works, the problem has to be a bad drivers door switch or a broken wire. The schematic linked below for 05 and newer, shows a grey wire for unlock that get's connected to ground through the switch. So, if yours has the same grey wire, grounding it should tell the BCM to unlock the doors. If it doesn't then you have a broken wire. Probably at the door jam where the wires flex. If you need to string a new wire, the easiest way is to cut the wire off inside the door and then solder a new wire onto it. Then go in the kick panel and pull on the old wire, which will pull the new wire through. Then you can cut out the broken wire section, and make your permanent solder connections on each end.

Wow, thanks. That was in depth. What does BCM stand for? Sorry I don't know.

Body Control Module. It controls most everything in the truck except the motor and the 4WD. When the BCM see's ground on the gray wire, it sends power to the door lock actuators.

Kinda like when you stick your hand on the stovetop, your brain say's OH CRAP and sends power to your arm muscles.

@Muddinfun and @Styx586 thank you both for helping out. I actually had a rat(a legit rat) inside my cab and dash about a month ago. It was during this time that the switch stopped working. I chalked that up to coincidence as a switch can go bad anytime. Since then I've ran across another problem. It looks as though my fear of that rodent destroying wires my have came true. I started to think today and in the recent time frame, the rat seems be a logically suspect. Who knows:notsure:I've Done basic install of wiring up auxiliary lights before and tried changing out the switch to no luck; but I believe this task may have just gotten out of my comfort zone. Thanks again guys and I'll go back through and read over your guys posts again.

Oh man!!! You may have lots more problems than just door locks. Take a look under the dash. If you see snarled up, chewed up bundles of wires, it may be time to turn in a claim on your comprehensive insurance.

I called myself checking, but damn, there are wires galore. I actually reached out to my agent today, to see about starting a claim, but he is out till thursday for his birthday. When I discovered that I had a rat, I called him to see if I would be covered, if the worst case scenario happened. He was actually stomped by the situation saying he never seen a claim like that before. He did a little calling around, and I'm covered, if I have to go that route. I feel like this situation should be a farmer's insurance commercial.

Well I just found one chewed wire. It is indeed the gray wire. So that explains why it won't unlock.
