I also bought KTJO's handle. I originally purchased the "grey" color because that's what my truck's interior says it is. I really should've ordered black. I messaged her on facebook and a few days later she corrected the order. It took a month to receive it but it came with all the parts necessary. I did what OP did and ordered a better quality metal clip thing and didn't have the easiest time starting the screws. Once it was screwed in it was good to go and sturdy has hell. I'd rather use the handle to balance or pull myself into the truck than pulling on the steering wheel. I want to keep this truck for years. I figure if I'm pulling on the steering wheel everytime I hop in the truck eventually it's going to mess something up.

I've read most of the negative opinions on KTJO but I don't have anything negative to say about my experience. I'm actually thinking about purchasing the B Pillar handles next.

Perhaps because I have a manual transmission, but I wouldn’t get out of the truck on a steep incline with the engine running, thus the steering lock prevents the wheel from turning as I get in.

Does the handle right there block your fob or is it something you have to get used to?

I have one as well. It's surprisingly good considering it's not from the OEM.
As written before, a better J-clip is mandatory. Expect the fight starting the bolts. Just takes patience.

I'm guessing you meant "FOV". For me, no. I'm 5'9 and I really don't notice the handle taking anything away from my view through the windshield while driving.

For me, at 6'4", it does intrude on the view through the windshield. But not enough to make me regret the install. However it is probably enough to keep Toyota from including one as a stock part.

I thought I read that these still allowed the airbag to deploy. is that not the case?

I found a photo on here that has the airbags deployed and I compared it with a photo of my handle installation and the air deploys
nowhere near the handle. The plastic cover is just like the Toyota cover, but allows for handle to be mounted. That's not science, just my
    finding.

I have one also, originally preordered one a long way back. Bought it cause I was looking for symmetry between the a pillars.

I honestly use it all the time, personally easier than using the steering wheel to pull myself up.

From my seating position, I do not notice an increase in visual obstruction.

I sure miss the grab handle I had in my second generation Taco, but this mod makes me really uneasy. The mod trim piece obviously has two bolts, vs one for OEM trim. The mod trim piece is more secure, which allows use of the handle, but that trim needs to freely pop open for the airbag to deploy. IMO, that's a big problem. No doubt in my mind this mod would void the warranty of that airbag.

Don’t get it, then. I wonder how the the other side gets around that 2nd bolt? :)

While I no long recommend the mod for other reasons, this whole airbag question has been answered over, and over, and over. It functions the same, either side of the Taco, stock or modded. The curtain air bag slips out from the gap between the edge of the trim piece. The trim piece does not move or break away. Look at the crash test videos posted in the other threads. It's obvious.

Now, you will see that Toyota had a drivers side grab handle up to the point of the small overlap testing where the handle-less Taco scored very well in the lab conditions. The kicker is that MFGs were not testing both sides of the vehicle. So, the IIHS now tests both sides for small overlap.

I just installed mine. Had major reservation about this mod due to the numerous bad reviews I found on it. But after my install, everything seems to be great! Handle is solid as a rock! I see no issue with the "AirBag" deployment.
After having it for a few weeks I can't really say I use it very much. I guess my truck isn't as lifted as some.

My wife would really like the "Oh $hit" handle that use to be above the drivers and passengers window. I wish Toyota would bring those back.

Point taken. Having said that, as for the warranty, it doesn't matter whether the air bag will still work; it matters whether Toyota would void based on the mod. What do you think they would say?

Warranty on what? What airbag repair do folks take in for warranty work?
