    Hello All.

I'm new to the forum. I just got a 2022 Tacoma Off Road with Cloth seats. I love the truck so far except for the drivers seat. I've driving it about 200 miles and my upper back is killing me.

I have sort of a long torso but I've never had an issue in any other vehicle. There's a stiffer section just under the headrest that puts pressure on my back inbetween my shoulder blads.

Quesiton: Does this area soften after a while? If not are there any fixes or does anyone else have this issue?

    Thanks

You can try using some front or rear seat jackers on the driver's seat to change the angle of the seat. One or the other should work as it will change your contact point with the seat.

Secondly, I assume you messed around with the tilt of it already? I could never quite get comfortable with mine until I bought rear jackers for my driver's seat

Welcome! Umm.. I bring no value to your question lol. The 21 seat is kind of uncomfortable too tbh but I’ll change something or do something about it later.

    Hello!

My SR5 is giving me some issues but it's more in the lower back area. I'm still working on the lumbar toggle to try to get it right.

Try messing with the seat tilt a little, even with a tiny adjustment it just might help relieve some pressure in a bad spot.

I had an issue similar in my 17,
What I found worked the best for the lower back..... the truck bounces a lot, I switched out to the bilstein 5100s and that got rid of the constant bouncing.
For my upper back, between the shoulders and neck. I turned the head rest around to face backwards. This head rest keeps your head pushed forward/ chin down.
I also added the seat jackers on the rear two mounting bolts.

I have a long torso and short legs and I was just okay with my 17’s seat until I added seat jackers to the front mount. Not sure if they will help with the power seats or not. You could go to an auto upholstery shop and have the foam adjusted to your body.

I have the same problem. I'm going to switch around the headrest to see if that helps a bit.

Thanks for all the feedback. This is a 2022 so I can adjust the seat. My lower back and legs are fine, it's just my upper back. I have a long toros and short legs. I have plenty of headroom but it just feels like the seat isn't long enough. My shoulders are above the top of the seat. The top of the seat is angled outward slightly and that pushes against my back.

I read every postiive and negative review I could about this truck before I purchased it. One good thing is that I haven't heard many people complaining about this which makes me think it's not a big deal. I'll just try and adjust my seat a little more to see if that helps.

    Thanks.

I still suggest seat jackers for the rear brackets on the driver's seat. They are cheap.

As much as I love the the 3rd gen overall, I'll never understand how Toyota thought the seating ergonomics were acceptable. Like who sat in these trucks and was like, yep, this is great!? lol

The seats are too low. They aren't bucketed nearly enough (so almost all your weight presses solely on your butt). The steering wheel barely telescopes. Unless you sit close to the wheel, you have the b-pillar in your face instead of side window, etc.

I have a 2016 and mine seems soft. I think it will soften over time. Otherwise grab a butter knife or a spoon and rub it around a bit if you're comfortable with that. I have also been driving a 2021 Subaru outback leather seats and all the different small seat tweaks it does. I like forward back, lean back sit up. Well and lumbar. But I feel like with all the options I always feel like one just isn't right

That's pretty much what I look like.

I did pitch the bottom of my seat forward some and that does seem to be helping somewhat.
Thanks for all the help guys. Worse case I start looking for some 4Runner seats and try to figure out how to swap them.

    2" suspension lift/wheel spacers.
These things have the worst seats ever.

Buy a seat cover, a $30 TENS unit, and stick the probes on the inside of the cover where your back hurts.

here's what i did. i did this for my low back and legs but for a long torso this should take upward compression away from your upper spine. i bet this would be good for you..

    - Seatcontour:
stock driver seat was the most uncomfortable seat ever. within an hour of driving my right thigh would go totally numb and stay that way the whole drive. and my mid-upper back hurt from it also. so i went to Jay's Upholstery in Denton, TX and asked them to bucket it. $200 for the most comfortable seat i own now.
Passenger side, not touched, flat and quite hard:
Driver side, bucketed and cushioned. in this pic you can't see much but the driver foam is very soft on top and lets you sink right into it. they carve out the bucket to drop your bottom, raise the thighs a bit, then there will be some slack in the leather. they carve foam from the bottom, not the top. after that they fill the top with low density foam to take up the slack. so what you're looking at is kinda puffy on the top but you sink into the bucket easily. so comfortable and snug.

Those upholstery guys sound like angels!

My wife has back problems from a herniated disk and pinched nerve. Very hard for her to comfortable in the passenger seat. I thought about adding memory foam in between the seat and seat covers. I first placed the memory foam on top of the seat and had her sit on it. It was not good for her since it raised her up and lumbar area was thrown off.
Your method with what the upholstery shop did makes perfect sense.
