uh... it would all be live loads. The only dead load is the weight of the handle and pillar molding.

That is exactly what I am thinking. I don't remember if Katie showed the rivnut in the hole? It is going to have to fill the hole to start with, so my thought is that a matching ID washer might be a good idea.

    My fat ass? Yup!

Hard to say, but I would guess no as that would cause all kinds of questions for the buyers?

Looks like she's getting them Monday or Tuesday and we get them a few days after that.

If it makes any difference the kit says that it comes with a jack nut, not a rivnut.

Valid point there, jack nuts have wider bases, which may address any load bearing area concerns compared to a rivnut/nutsert.

According to the Fedex tracking, they’re still sitting in the warehouse. Monday or Tuesday is optimistic.

A jack nut would definitely drive me toward a backing washer, just for long term pull through worries. I'd prefer the hole filling of a rivnut, but that appears to be an understandably oversized hole.

I did a quick search. Rivnut came up 25 times. Jack twice and once was for an actual jack. :santa2:

Would using a well nut be completely ridiculous? Nice that it wouldn't be permanent, no sharp edges and may offer some dampening (no rattling)

They are also called “crossNUTS”, at least according to my UpTop Overland install instructions on my under hood light. It is definitely more descriptive than “Jack”. I’ve also seen “plus nuts”.

Now be nice and give her more time than that. I believe this is a side gig for her. She's most likely going to have to open up each one up to inspect, maybe add a few things, and package for individual shipping. If it were me and I had several hundred of these to do, it would take a couple of weeks to complete. Then add a few days for shipping during the busiest time of the year.

I love wellnuts. But, a lot of folks seem to hate them. Low quality ones exposed to heat tend to rot.

The bearing surface / tension issue would be worse there than a rivnut, IMHO.

I thought she said something about using the hardware for that hole from a 2nd Gen?

Yeah, I've never used them. I could see that if you pulled on the handle, it would expose a gap, as the well nut would compress the rubber even more... Not sure how solid they are when installed.

I don't recall anything about the 2nd Gens. That doesn't mean that it wasn't posted. My guess is that it used a second welded nut, just like the upper. That would be optimal for my minor worry, but . . .

They are used on my bike's fairings. The OE ones sucked due to the rot problem. The replacements have been good for a much longer span of time. IMO, they're great for quick installation, replacement, vibration / isolation, and shear. Just not tension.

I used them to kill the squeaky rear fender liners:

I don’t dispute what’s on F#%^book but according to Fedex tracking any movement of the goods is pending. Check it out: tracking # 398748347420
