exactly.... I also did the hose on roof thing to watch where H2O finds its way to and it sure was going into that wire harness pass through, and I also believe I had a leak in the wall/fender/corner joint... my floor would have water seep in at the bottom, never dripping or flowing visibly... so its a folded overlap of body metal, is my best guess.... and or the pass through....

My floor has been dry since I applied what you see in my picture.

I ruled this out. I ruled AC out. I also washed the Taco. Ran water for 20 mins and AC about an hour.

After a week of no rain, I put a hose on the roof rack and windshield. I pulled up carpet, the smell from the padding was terrible. Looks like water is entering from the left of the black foot rest. There is mud there? Strange. The carpet is wet an inch up from the metal.

anyone know what is behind the a carpet? How do I remove the black foot rest? The red hose on the left is dry....6044F3F9-46F4-4517-83C8-EE21F16FFA90.jpg 9C849EC6-2C4B-47FF-9D95-FAF8DF36E119.jpg 6A0B4A76-677B-4BBC-BD8F-FDEF154DCAB2.jpg

I spray the pad down with bleach cleaner and rinsed, used shop vac to suck up and clean. It’s drying in the sun.

I located the leak. Windshield seal broken. Looks like when I shoved the light bar power cable, I broke the seal. I went to Toyota and they gave me a new one under warranty. They said it is common, they break off in the car wash and sometimes leaks and sometimes doesn’t. I have resealed it with the black stuff silicone and the new strip with 3M tape.

I got this leak. Damn.. driver side puddle.. smells...

So i did the water hose leak test didn’t see anything..

It rained for several hours here and vehicle was parked.

I think it’s the “body/fender seam” is seeping in and not dripping. I dunno if that’s right term. I just don’t wanna go slapping seam sealer on everything like a 3 year old.

where exactly is this seam I should silicone?

Let me know when you find out. I've sealed/siliconed everything everyone has suggested, still getting water leaking in from somewhere...

plan is to seal everything around the firewall, replace door seal, and finally the window seals.

no roof rack. The front fender and door was in an accident, I was sideswiped..

This TSB is for a 2005, but many others have also had seam leakers. It may help you locate the leak and fix it yourself.

Here is the TSB for the seam leaks on the 2005 Tacoma. It has helped many repair their leaks on their Tacomas.

Had a leak on driver’s side floor after a windshield replacement.. truck sat for a bit with water in the floorboards before anyone drove it, so when we finally saw what was going on, it was pretty nasty. End up cutting out the bad carpet, drilling holes in the floor, and throwing down some weather tech mats. Voila- problem solved. Kinda.

It only stopped leaking after I had a new (another) windshield installed.

Yup commercial diving in the Gulf of Mexico, but I’m mostly inshore now. Hard hat diving at ports, construction, and ship-side stuff now.
