wondering if it's cheaper to replace the bearing or get a new axle?

    They are 2 separate things.
You either have problems with 1 or both.

I’d suggest finding out what the problem is.
    What is your problem?

Cheaper to buy a new axle, just buying a new axle from the dealer is only about $350 give or take, versus replacing the bearing costs not quite but nearly as much in parts and a lot more in labor.

Don't know what you're going to do with just a new axle sitting around if you're not going to replace it, and like others have stated I don't understand why you would want to buy a new axle or replace your bearing; what seems to be the issue?

Sounds like somebody is pumping the parts shotgun ready to unload on an issue that may not be either...

The question would actually make more sense if it were the REAR axle.
But the front, No. I’m certainly curious as to what the problem is currently?

When changing my winters for summers tires I noticed the drivers side front wheel bearing dry, axle end that fits in hub also dry and dirty so I decided to replace both and also the dust cover for rotor. Winters are hard up here in the north...

You should do both otherwise you’ll be doing both again in short order.

The bearings are sealed, dry and dirty is 100% fine. You should never see it "wet" It's when it's leaking grease that you need to worry.

If it makes noise thats a different story

Define dry? These arent supposed to be bathed in oil or anything like that, they are sealed.. The CV itself is also pretty fool proof unless there is black grease everywhere, then the boot has a hole in it
