Drivers Side Grab Handle (Strap)

There was a discussion in another thread about the lack of a grab handle in the 3rd gens. I couldn't locate that thread so here is what I came up with.

I bought a Porsche RS style door strap on Etsy ($13.00 for 2), removed the A pillar bolt cover and bolt, slid the strap over the bolt with two washers under it and tightened it.

It doesn't get in the way or block my vision.

 

If i only have the time i would gather some info, study the pillar and make a grab handle like the one on the passenger side. For what i can see from pictures, the holes for the handle is already there. Perhaps the handle from a 2nd gen left side will fit just fine, some mod to the oem cover will be required tho. Good job OP!

 

Is there a right hand drive version of the tacoma that you could get the grab handle from?

 

Very possible, the question is where to get it from.

The Tacoma is only sold in North America as far as I am aware, so I doubt any right hand drive models exist.

 

Wonder if @mesojdm has considered a 3rd Gen driver side handle as a product?

 

Not to bash, this is purely curiosity, but what is the point of this handle? Is this better than the stock handle already there?

 

You have a grab handle on your driver side? Wow you have the only 3rd gen Tacoma in the world with one.

 

There is no stock grab handle. Handle was deleted on Third Gen models.

Is there a need for a driver side grab handle? I just grab the steering wheel and drag my butt in.

 

I have only had my truck for a few days, but I do find myself reaching up there at times for a handle (my previous car, a Lexus RX 350 had one). It is not required, but I sometimes used it to shift in my seat or just hang my hand there.

 

Wouldn't mind a drivers side grab handle...

 

by any chance, can you take the passenger side one and flip it? pop a hole in the pillar above the screw holes and mount it?

 

They saw fit to put "Oh Shit" handles on both sides of the Hilux. WUT' DA' SHIT?!?!?! Wut?!....'Merica ant good enough for two "Oh Shit" handles?!

 

I'm curious where the passenger side handle goes when the a pillar airbag goes off.
