If you haven’t already done so, make sure to give the underside a once-over to make sure something didn’t get whacked out of place. I’ve had this happen to me before and, although I was able to drive home in front-wheel drive, I noticed that the exhaust pipe had been cracked just behind one of the cats.

Make sure your front diff fluid is full and in good condition when you get to a stopping point. If not, drain it and put a good synthetic in it before you go that 1,300 miles. If the ujoints looked like that, no telling what the front diff fluid looks like!

I was driving my Chevy LUV (350/TH350) down in TX. Front driveshaft yoke snapped, drivshaft dropped and caught an edge. Always fun to have your back end jump in the air. Got out to look after I came to a stop, found half the driveshaft in the road behind me and the other half wrapped around the axle with the pinion destroyed.

Hard to believe they went from smooth and quiet to breaking in 2 seconds. When my u-joints went out I drove around with them vibrating and clanking for almost a week before I could get to the dealer for a warranty repair. Perhaps the lift and the V6 combined to do them in considerably faster.

I saw some people remove the driveshaft and engage 4wd, so it becomes fwd. Idk if this works with new Tacomas but it works with old 4x4s.

Edit: aaand I didn't read the other messages. whoops.

Yeah I mean I would have noticed abnormal vibration in the weeks leading up but nothing. I was pulling a load though (well within the tow limit) and doing 70 at high rpms with mountain passes the day before at low gear high rpms...prob contributed to it

I truly understand now why most people keep maintenance records lots of stuff can be avoided with regular maintenance not saying your fault just saying lots of faulty parts out there pure junk

Best comment ever in the history of the internet. I’m getting a horse immediately.

Edit: what’s better, new or used?

Nope, definitely not that. Guest's means people without accounts. There's something drawing in hundreds of people from somewhere.

I understand how that looks too. I myself just look for opportunities of knowledge if I can't be of use. staring and ones misfortune isn't my thing. you have a valid point.... quite a list there.
