The truck is a 2014 4x4 automatic, no mods. In cold weather when the truck shifts into high gear there is a thud. Sometimes more noticeable than other times. But after I have driven a couple of miles, when things get warmed up it does not do this. To avoid this thud, when I start off I put the gear selector in 4, then when the truck warms up I shift into D. After that there is no noise. Do I have a concern or is everything ok? 89K on odometer, new fluids in tranny, transfer and diff. at 75,000. It made this noise before the servicing too.

That's fairly typical for auto transmissions when it's cold outside. Usually more noticeable the colder it gets because the fluids are going act like higher viscocity until it warms up, and that makes the TC lockup (overdrive) kick in harder if that makes sense. Probably nothing to worry about. You could always pull a fluid sample and send off for testing if you are real worried about things but I doubt it's much of an issue. Just drive it more gently until it gets up to temperature.

Thank you for your replies, now I can resume worrying about things that need concern.
