All I owned was manuals before I bought my 2 Tacoma's(automatics) in the past 2 years. Here's some advice that could help.

    - Always gear down and slow down before an intersection, stop sign. You know that you're going to have to stop. I made sure that I was rolling up to where I had to stop. No heavy braking.
    - Always made sure that I was in a gear that I could get out of an emergency were to come up. Like a vehicle coming up behind that couldn't stop.
    - Always make sure that you are in a gear. Don't cruise in neutral.
    - Really when it comes down to it all. Driving for the road conditions is key.

Someone forgot to go to the Dollar Store and buy a snow brush. The defrost will clean that up eventually.
