Hey guys, I’ve got my driveshaft in the shop getting repaired so my truck is currently immobile. I want to get my truck on my lift to replace the LBJs while it is sitting there. I’m curious if I could put the truck into 4WD (just use front wheels) to move it. I assume this should work but I am unsure if there is something I am unaware of to be concerned with.

youve never broken a drive shaft wheeling have you... drove a ford ranger home once in "Front wheel drive" just dont crank the wheel super hard. should be fine enough for a short distance

yup- your fine. You don't even have to baby it. Just be aware that it will act like a front wheel drive car on the road if you run out to the store with it.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
No rear drive shaft No torque Bind.

I drove longer then I will admit just waiting to get motivated to put the new rear drive shaft in.

^The limit was for switching between 2hi and 4hi. Once in 4hi there's no limit, which means there's no limit in FWD.

Interesting. Is the front differential as capable for driving the truck without assistance from the rear differential long term? No issue with long distance driving for some period of time?
