That's good advice right there. If you're trucken along on a snow packed road, or one that goes from a bit of snow/ice to hard dry pavement just keep in in 2wd since there's little chance of getting stuck. If you're in a parking lot that has a lot of ruts in the snow or hasn't been plowed, switch to 4High and take it slow. I can't think of a situation where you would need 4low due to snow unless maybe if you are stuck and want to try crawl control to get you out... but that's a whole different deal.

Cant absolutely guarantee in your case obviously, but basically if you are already utilizing all available traction, additional traction attempts on one side will do nothing except activate ABS probably... I dont know if the truck is smart enough to REDUCE your attempts at braking on one side, but probably not except for ABS

(I dont know enough to know if a little gas would help in this situation, but I definitely think letting off brakes will likely help initially in this situation...)

Arb summit bumper. Morimoto led headlights and new grill. Grill and lights have sequential turn signals.
It sound like this is your first time driving with a pickup and in possible bad weather.
When you can pull into a snow covered lot and stomp it in a safe area, get your feel of how it breaks traction, after that you should have a good idea of when you will need 4 high.
80-100 lbs up against the tail gate does help in snow and ice.

There is no way I can fit chains without some damage. I guess I can get some to carry so I can say yes, but they won't be going on.

the rear tires should be able to handle chains or is you truck modified where they will not work?

If you are in the snow and your back end is slipping more than you like, pull over in a safe spot with plenty of snow around and shovel a bunch of it into the bed of your truck for extra weight.

If you are planning a trip into an area you might think is sketchy, put extra weight in your bed beforehand (sandbags etc.) to help with extra traction.

    My 2 cents.

    Happy Trails!

Um, you in a low car or Tacoma pickup ??
Because even the basic taco has more then enough room to run chains.
There are alternatives also that are flat.

I wonder how hard/expensive it'd be to swap in a 4runner or gx 460 center diff?
