I drive to Haines City FL. about once a week from November to April to visit my folks. Their snow birds.

I always get better mileage coming home than I do driving down. I was thinking to myself..."self" how can this be? When I drive there I'm going south, down hill on the earth, coming home I'm driving north up the side of the earth.

I go to Cincinnati at least once a year. The whole trip up there, I'm driving up the side of the earth. Seems I'd get terrible gas mileage the trip there. But coming home I should be able to get up to a good speed put the truck in neutral, and just coast back down the earth to Florida.

    What the fuck?

This is actually a better question than some....
OP, gravity in this case is your enemy. You simply need to lift the rear of your truck and you will easily coast home. You are welcome.

Rotation? No, we're all spinning the same speed. Lunar cycle? Possibly if he was at the equator. Negligible at best I'd imagine.

Probably when driving south in that big hunk of steel, the magnetic North Pole is pulling against you.

Driving back North it is pulling with you.

    You're welcome...

Wind out of the south? Head wind heading south, tail wind coming home.

I’m the Northern Hemispere, the farther south you go, it is all up hill until you reach the equator. After that, it’s all downhill

Due to the earth's equatorial pull, I often feel my passenger side tires wear more quickly while driving east. Anyone else having this problem? Oh, btw; I'm all stock except for one of those console trays but I can't see that making that big of a difference??

This makes no sense, the earth is flat so it shouldn’t matter which direction you travel. If you don’t believe me just look at a map, it’s flat.

There’s walls all around it to stop things from falling off. Haven’t you seen the Truman Show?
