Who said I'm a bad driver? This is a driving peeves thread. I don’t like bicycles on the road. Can’t I voice that here?

You can, and I can vote in the same pet peeves thread that, IMO, you are the bad driver since you can't seem to handle a bike on the road and you shouldn't be on it.

    I agree, I shouldn’t be on the road on a bicycle cause I can’t pedal 35-55.

You probably should be on the road period with your lack of being able to drive with bike riders around.

I don't mind sharing the road with bicyclists as allowed by law, but what grinds my gears is when they take up the entire road in enormous/wide groupings, and above all when they don't abide by stop signs and street lights. It's an epidemic on weekends in the area I live in. They will routinely blow through stop sign intersections.

Who said I can’t drive around bicycles? I just don’t like bicycles on a road. It’s a driving pet peeve of mine.

Agreed. If you gonna share the road you have to abide by the laws. Whatever your on.

That is all usually against the law. Every place I have been where I have researched the laws, 2 wide is the most that there can be. And everyplace I have been where I have looked at the laws, bikes follow the road laws when it comes to stops and lights, so again they are breaking the laws there. In this, I completely agree with you.

I also hate when you wait patiently to pass a bike rider and get caught at a light or stop sign and they go around you not abiding by the laws. I do like when I’m driving my diesel and this happens though.

Does that mean drivers shouldn't speed too? That law seems to be ignored by 99% of the world.

Yeah I've got absolutely no problem with them when they're in the bike lane or shoulder and abide by the same traffic laws we have to in our vehicles. When it works out that way, sharing the road works as it should and I've got no issue at all with doing it. They aren't all like that, but a lot of them (at least in my area) are. It's the worst within the neighborhood streets, probably because they figure it's a neighborhood so no big deal. But then that's where you end up seeing the most accidents happen at intersections mainly.

I’m not here to solve the worlds problems, I’m just venting some pet peeves of mine about driving.

If you want to tackle speeders you can have that.

I should mention we have absolutely terrible drivers in our neighborhood too, probably 95% of everyone here thinks a stop sign just means slow down a bit. No one knows that when you come to a stop at the same time, the person on the right goes first. It becomes a race to see who can beat the other guy. And if you're a pedestrian, especially at night, better have a will in place.

I'm not trying to solve the problems. I was referencing what you said about "abide by the laws. Whatever your on." So I was asking about a law that is almost universally ignored.

Speeders don’t usually bother me. I’m the guy driving the speed limit on the old country roads holding them up. Kinda like bicycles holding me up. I guess that’s karma?

LOL They don't bother me either, but neither do bikes (if they are not doing the blatantly illegal things themselves). I'm surprise bikes hold you up on country roads. Around my parts it is so easy to pass them since there is so little other traffic, and fortunately, everyplace I've been, even in no-passing zones it is legal to pass a bicycle even if they are in the lane of traffic.

I’ll wait to safely pass a bicycle, I’m just impatient and can’t stand them to be on the road. I wish nothing bad at all against anyone who does it, it’s just not for me.

That is the condition on that passing in no passing zone. You have to be able to do it safely. Now, if I do happen to be on my bike on the road, I personally pay attention to who is coming up behind me and I move as far over as I can so cars can get around me too, but I know that is a rare thing too...

There’s no way I would ride a bicycle on the road these days. Too many people on their phones and not paying attention. I used to ride to the store as a kid on my bike but no way would I let my kids do that now.
