    Ever attach a float-valve fan-disconnect to the bottom of your electric fan housing so that the fans cut off before the blades break/fracture when trying to drive in water rising above the blades?
    Guy at Firestone suggested such while discussing my recently having sunk my Taco.
    Apparently, fellow was familiar with the area in which I sank my Taco? As he and groups of friends formerly mudded out there quite frequently until so doing became banned.
    He said one of the largest issues his friends and himself experienced when driving through the deep water in which I unintentionally ventured, was their engine fan blades breaking upon contact with the water.
    They resolved this particular issue by converting their parasitic clutch fans to electric.
    They accomplished by incorporating a float valve-triggered electrical disconnecter into circuit powering the electric engine fan and attached it to the bottom of their electric fan housing.
    This had the effect of when water reached the bottom of the fan housing, endangering the fan blades, the float valve would rise and thereby interrupt the circuit powering the electric engine fan.
    This disconnection then stopped the engine fans rotation, thus preventing them from fracturing when powering through the water. However, as soon as the the engine emerged from the water, the float valve would again drop, thus re-engaging the electric engine fan allowing them to keep on mudding all without having to get out and/or remember to manually turn their fans off/on.

    Nope, I can’t say I’ve ever seen that.
    I think buying a boat might be a better option.
    I have no desire to cross water any higher the the bottom of my front bumper.
    Ideally, I would rather go around water and mud.

    I totally agree with you bro, and should it matter, I went to high school in B'wood. Had I not been lazy and not wanted to avoid driving the same 4-6 mile loop in reverse to avoid the water hazard I would have. However, laziness got the best of me. I contribute the Firestone guy's tip /mod simply for those out there that wish to accomplish such in their neck of the woods.

    I’m lazy also, cleaning the mess sucks.

    I avoid dirt at all possible junctures. In fact, I never intentionally drive through mud, water, or even engage the 4wd. It was turkey season and I was scouting for turkeys. That water didn't look all that deep said I? Ha.

    Mine was the opposite.
    I intentionally went in the mud. Wasn’t in 4WD, and didn’t engage it soon enough.
    Sunk it to the frame in the rear. Then dug the fronts in until they too were sunk.
    Lost my key while wading in the mud. The worst part was the clean up.

    My last outting caused huge overheating, my second fan got gummed up and my radiator fins were coated with mud, had to keep running cabin hot to cool the engine down.

    I'm done with mud, water is only if I have to now.

    Worst I had was driving down a dirt road and getting plastered in dust, then getting rained on. Clogged the radiator on my bike right up. Long way from home too.


    Sometimes the mud comes to you!
