I too would like to know the details on this. I might consider revalving out the gate for a softer ride since I went with a 700Ib spring

Hey guys sorry for the late reply here, was my bday weekend so I was out partying all weekend :D

Hey MGM, I'm not sure the exact specs on the revalving that they did, but where I had my issue was with what ADS calls 'crack pressure'. I wanted the initial part of the stroke to be about 40% softer. He said he moved a large step away from what it currently had and completely changed the setup for the better. I believe this is change was done on the compression side only, which I'm now happy with (still running at full soft on the clickers). I don't think they did anything to alter the rebound though, which is what I'll likely send them back for to reduce by 30% or no next time. I worked with Tyler from start to finish for my order / revalve and he's been super helpful.

Might be worth it if you're running a lot of weight. I'm still surprised after seeing so many raving reviews about these that they were this stiff out of the box. Certainly not what I was expecting. FWIW I don't have any issues with the standard 650lb springs themselves that these ship with (being factory weight) - just the default damping characteristics of the internal shock valving don't suite my particular tastes.

Thanks d00d! I purchased direct from ADS and when you do that you can get these Cerakoted different colors so I had them do them in black. Think it looks awesome against the white with my other red accents.

So per usual here in AZ when you alter suspension, I think the heatwave that we've been having helped the RXT's to finally settle the rest of the way to the proper advertised ride height (settled ~1/2" in a week). Paired with reducing the psi to 30, the rear end is much more compliant and less bouncy - feels more planted and more comfortable.

With the settling I was able to bring the front collars down 2 rotations on each side to give me back the rake I like (~3/4" higher in the rear). I don't think this had any noticeable effect in ride quality but I know the whole front end will be that much happier with a little less preload on the springs.

Did my first oil change at 1947 miles last night. The mileage was low and supposedly these come with synthetic 0w20 already in them that will last 10k, but it's been 8 months and I really wanted to see how the filter was doing with it being my first new motor. Filter looked as expected for the first change with no cause for concern and oil came out smoooooth and glitter-free. Made a mess as I've never seen an oil drain plug that points straight down before but good news is that my Scion and the Tacoma take the same oil and filter so I can stock up and do them together annually from now on and save a little doing them at the same time.

Mobil1 0w20 w/ TRD oil filter in the truck now. :)

Yeah, oil changes on these trucks are a bit like staring at a fire hose waiting for someone to turn on the water. In a matter of seconds the street or driveway is freshly coated.

Did the mess come from draining the oil pan or the filter? You may be aware but Motivx tools makes a oil change kit to reduce the mess when draining the filter.

    Keep the updates coming!

 Dude ain't that the truth. I have nice new shiny marks on the insides of both front tires now lmaoooo.

I've seen those, but I have the Toyota OEM filter tool which works fine. The TRD filters also come with these little drainage things that snap into the filter and allow it to drain mostly mess-free (for a cartridge). Filter doesn't drain much at all until that piece is snapped in so no issues with the filter - though have been doing it for 6 years already on my dd so I've got the procedure down. I actually kind of like the cartridge setup now because it makes it really easy to check for metal without having to cut a filter open, which you definitely want to do with a new engine. I'll probably swap out the filter again at 5k or so just to make sure I'm on the safe-side since I plan on keeping this forever.

The mess came from the oil pan design having the oil drain pointing down instead of towards the rear of the vehicle. This causes the oil shoot straight down with the strength of Thor's hammer which then causes that to splatter out in every direction once it hits the drain pan. I think I will try to get some sort of funnel for this for next time and see if that helps to calm it down. That or just use a storage bin with high sides as a drain pan lol. Cool thing was I didn't have to jack up the vehicle for once which was rad. All my previous vehicles have been lowered so this is new territory lol.

So I've been talking to Tyler @ ADS and he suggested lowering the truck to pick up some more downtravel in the front end to improve my ride quality. The truck is too tall with the RXT pack anyway so I ordered the J66 leaf pack which should be a better ride for a stock-weight truck and allow me to lower the front a bit. I guess the RXT is much more at home if you add weight to the truck, which I won't be. So once that shows up and the ride height is reconfigured I'll reassess if I still need to get the shocks revalved.

RXT pack will be available for sale as soon as the J66 shows up in case anyone is interested for local pickup here in AZ. 1200 miles on it and will have all the parts and additional leaf it came with along with the u-bolts that come with the Deaver pack.

Did ADS mention a 600lb spring?

I think you need 600's to be happy. I'm on a 14" 600lb spring, on both my Fox coilovers and my Eibach coilovers. They both ride very similar, obviously the Fox's have the edge, but they were several times the cost. The Fox setup is set a little higher than the Eibachs were as well.

I also probably have a total of about 300lbs added (total front and rear). Didn't have to crank the preload that high at all, and TBH, I am going to lower it just a little bit to try to get a little better ride out of it.

They actually offered a 700lb spring or a 16" 650lb spring for the amount of preload I'm running to get the same height but I didn't want to make anything stiffer. I have 19/17 threads exposed right now to get the wheel gap ~3/4" less than the rear for a nice rake to match the 2" rear

With the front preloaded so much to match the rear, the front coilover only has 1" of downtravel and they recommend 1.75" minimum so reducing the ride height while also putting a softer leaf pack should help everything immensely. The downtravel is likely a big cause for how crappy this is riding because it soaks up hits that compress the suspension, but is pretty terrible whenever it has to extend beyond ride height. The rear is too high anyway - I only wanted a 1" lift back there to begin with.

So before making any additional valving changes, I'm going to address the downtravel issue and swap out to a softer rear pack. The J66 packs (recommended to me by both ADS and Accutune for my needs) should be here Thursday - really looking forward to the change.

Thanks man, already have a few much closer parties interested, but will let you know if they don't pan out.

Interested to hear about how you like the J66 pack and the amount of lift you get out of it. Hope it's what you need!

What is your hub to fender measurements F&R? RXT's set to stage 2? My rear suspension is way too stiff, and i was thinking of going to RXT's.

BTW... I notice you are talking about sound deadening... and quietness... what you have installed is only supposed to change the harmonics of what it is attached to. IF you truly want it quieter, you need to install MLV. From second skin's site:

Damplifier Pro damps metal 3-10x better than asphalt deadeners. https://www.secondskinaudio.com/sound-deadening/

Luxury Liner Pro blocks road noise, exhaust noise, and other airborne sound waves while adding insulation. https://www.secondskinaudio.com/sound-blocking/

Icon set to stage 1 - no weight in the rear and when I ordered I didn't know there was a leaf pack that did only 1" of lift or I would have got the Deaver to begin with. I don't recall hub to fender measurements but it's more than I want it to be.

Thanks for the sound deadening tips. I've been deadening cars for 16 years - I know what's available and how it works. It has about 30' of Damplifier Pro already. The truck isn't loud, but I wanted it to feel a little better and needed to add some weight to it's crazy light doors. My tC needed layering, but the truck does not. Adding the base layer to the rear wall and floor under the cargo bin helped noticeably with road noise. Adding it to the doors helped to not hear vehicles traveling next to me as much. If I needed another layer over this I would do the Heatwave Pro. Been very satisfied with that product over top of a butyl base layer.
