I installed a set of raptor lights. Used an add-a-fuse and tapped my DRL fuse. To my surprise the raptor lights are on even with truck off. Can anyone shed some light onto this?

I tapped into my DRL fuse and I don't understand why it is hot when the truck is off, the DRL LED strips are off, but my raptor lights remain on.

Complete speculation but perhaps the drls are switched on and off at the ground side.

Did you try turning off your DRLs though? Like not on auto, but off?

DRL fuse is battery powered and supplies the DRL relay, which is ground switched. You need to find a switched fuse or tap into the DRL after the relay.

That DRL circuit is wacky and there’s more to it than shown above. I posted a mod for a switched power and a always on lead to power a dash cam. It used a lead in the overhead console for a switched hot wire from the mirror compass, and that works great. But the always on tap to the cabin light switch made the DLR’s stay on too. Anyways, I gave up and just posted recommendations to run a hot up the A-column for always on power.

Resurrecting this - I was curious what you ended up doing? I am in the same predicament and was surprised by the always hot DRL circuit.

I was going to trace the circuit out to find the switched side but if you already found the solution, would love to hear it!

    Thanks!

The DRL fuse is the power to the relay, not power for the actual DRL’s themselves

Yep. Got that part. I was interested in the options on where to tap to accomplish this. Switched options for low draw lighting under the hood seem limited. I was going to break out the meter to track it down but I figured OP might have solved it and was trying to save time.

I tapped my raptor lights into the wiring for the parking lights on the drivers side...purple is positive and white is negative. The red and black wires are coming from the raptor lights.

I have the same issue. Installed these lights yesterday and could not get the DRL and raptor lights to work together. Raptor lights on all the time. I ended up using the low beam fuse.

I'd like to get some small leds and do nothing like this as we'll.

For the cam could you have tapped into the feed for the map lights? They can be turned on with the tuck off.
And which cam did you get?

Ok. That makes sense. I hadn’t thought of doing it that side of the circuit. This solves my issue! Thanks so much for the pic and explanation!

Same here David. I think I am going to try Ronzio’s method and tap into the light. I was looking in the fuse box for a solution but this will do the same thing and I can just use an add-a-fuse to protect the circuit although probably isn’t necessary as it is just a few LED’s and already off a fused link.

Can you post back if it works?
I was thinking of tapping into the wire at the DRL's....when and if I ever get to this.

I tapped my raptor lights into the fuse for the EFI circuit. This was good with me as I wanted my lights on anytime the truck was running. Only issue I noticed was that after x amount of hours after the truck turns off, the fuel circuit performs a self pressure test which turns the lights on during that time lol. So I had people coming to me at work saying hey your lights are on. Lol doesn’t hurt anything.

I know this sounds funny but used a add a fuse on my vleds switchback. I tapped into my a/c fuse and when I turn my off the a/c the white leds turn off but if you leave them on low they work just fine.
