Parking lights on is a better option.

I am passionate about lighting and safety, so here is my .02. Take it for what it's worth.

DRL(DAYtime running light) Are Typically forward facing, BRIGHT emitting lights(no cutoff, no specific location) in order for YOU to bee seen and recognized on the street(on coming). Yes, you can run headlights but typically they are aimed/cutoff and are not as visible in all directions as a DEDICATED and properly made DRL.

As for TAIL LIGHTS being on DRL.. here's why I advise against it. In the day time, you want the brake to be a nice and bright ON factor when they are applied. When you have them half lit(ghetto DRL) when brake is applied, the brightness is barely noticeable and not as DISTINCT enough in the day time.(at night..they are fine. running and brake brightness differences are MUCH more noticeable).
Keep the tails how they are wired from the factory IMO.

Here's where I see some people getting confused, in California since 2016, it is illegal to drive without your headlights on. Some folks think they can drive in blinding rain with their DRL's on, but not knowing that their taillights are off. What ends up happening is "Bam!" someone gets rear ended because they didn't have their tail lights on. So, word of caution, DRL's don't cut it in the rain. There was some statistic back before we had DRL's that Canadians had 50% less accidents because they drive around all day with their headlights on (including taillights). :notsure: By the way, Mr. passionate, your LED side markers take away the 3-1/2" sq. amber reflector SURFACE AREA on the front of the vehicle which is required to show direction of travel.:D

Yes, DRLs are so bright now a days..drivers may think their headlights are on in lower light conditions/dusk/etc. And not having tail illuminated is a recipe for disaster. All of my above views are pertaining to DAY clear conditions. If raining/overcast/etc.. revert to headlight/night settings.(truck may have AUTO sensor on the dash) which will help do this automatically. But at the end of the day, it comes down to the end user doing their due diligence in adjusting the stalk setting for the proper conditions.
As for my side maker..yeah I know it's lacks the requirement. This is one product exception. My thought process was the led strip would make up(and be actually more visible) than a passive reflector. So, technically by the rule book I am in the wrong, But Day and night time are 100X more visible.:notsure:

Yeah in the daylight, u want a drastic change, something to grab a distracted drivers attention, not a subtle change from on to slightly brighter.

 I think for the passive reflector side marker, the point is to show direction of travel while parked, or possibly after an accident in night conditions. An LED marker may not be lit, so all that a LEO or witness can distinctively see is the RED reflector in the rear, hence, not knowing which direction the vehicle is pointed towards... :notsure: It may not be a big deal to some, but direction of travel could make a difference to first responders, or to a train conductor for example, etc.

I also like having the rear lights on. I leave stalk set to "parking lights" all the time. That way I have the front DRLs and rear lights and they go on/off with the ignition, so I don't have to mess with them.

I have Meso's stage 2 wiring in the back, with bright LEDs, so I don't have concerns about the brakes not being distinguishable. They are plenty obvious.

Yup, I agree. When the truck is is off..that's where a passive reflector will be critical in that certian situation. Until I can mold my own reflectors..this will have to be the caveat of my LED side markers..and why I mark them for "OFF ROAD USE ONLY":D

That’s honestly why I didnt opt for those with my retrofit. I wanna be seen from the side, even if the truck is off.
