DRL behavior on the 2nd gens

Sorry in advance for my ignorance of all things 2nd gen, but I am hoping some of you guys can help me out. I know the 2nd gen uses the same bulb for the DRL and turn signal, but I am wondering what that bulb does when the headlights are on? Does it dim, and then flash at full brightness? I believe they behave the same as the 3rd gen SR/SR5, but want to make sure. I am making a harness for the Morimoto headlights that will allow the stalk to control the DRL as opposed to them just being on all the time (as well as making the grille lights work with the DRL as well), so I just need to make sure I fully understand how the turn/DRL works. Turns OFF when Low Beams are selected.
On 2011+ they use the second filament tied to the parking circuit to keep the turn lamp illuminated (dim)
