Mine is burnt in the same places. Although not near as bad. I'll leave it be for one more year and get new headlights. Ones with out dings, nicks and already blacked out.

I'm bumping this because I am wondering who else?

DRL is a factory option and I think all the Canadian vehicles must have them by law, right?

That seems like a lot of trucks with DRL.

    Anyone else have this happen?

Also, what if anything the dealer has done about this?

Just to give you guys an update, I spoke to the Service Manager and she had to check with the Warranty Department. She called me back in a couple days and offered to replace one lens (even though both are burnt) as a "good will repair" as long as I was under 60,000 miles. I'm actually at 62,445 and she hasn't got back to me about that.

She also mentioned that there was no concern for any fire damage and they recommend not to use a lower wattage bulb.

Sounds like a call into their CS number is in order, sounds like a safety issue for sure.

Not quite the same, but I had an issue with my 2008 Camry. I have the projector lens and it seems that the ice build up that occurs while driving in snow and ice fog and whatnot caused the light beam to literally melt the headlamp assembly.

My dealer told me that they will replace it one time, but probably not again. They said this even after I told them that the shape of the assembly basically encourages ice build up and that I brushed the headlamps off before I got in my vehicle everyday.

Since the OP is in Hawaii I don't think ICE is a problem.;)

okay in my defense, i actually didn't know what what going on till it was too late. I don't know too much about cars and it started off as just discoloring. By the time someone told me what was going on, my warrantly expired. I also read a couple of threads in some other forum and thought it was a common problem.

The dealership is saying that there is no concern for fire or additional damage. Is this true?

My friend just got both of his headlights replaced on his 2007 Tacoma Offroad, for the same problem. So i checked my truck and the same thing is happening and i have a 2008 Tacoma Sport, and my truck only has 13,000 miles on it!

Hey Robert I just got a 2010 and started worrying when I saw the OP. You said you're in south tx, I'm located in RGC and after reading your post hopefully that doesn't happen to mine. Thanks for the info.

Bump... My headlights started melting after warranty expired in my 09 doublecab. I have approx 65k on it already and the DRL lens just cracked last month which automatically rules out doing the BHLM, and it looks like $*&t! Went to the dealership and asked two different service guys about the issue hoping that this would be considered either a safety issue or design flaw that would be corrected by Toyota. The first guy said "nope - we can't do anything for it"... The second guy went and asked the manager and came back with a 50/50 deal which he quoted would still cost me over $450.00... I asked him to go 50/50 on the parts only and I would do the install and they flat-out said no to that counter.

Is there a website selling OEM lights or alternatives and has anyone been successful in getting this issue fixed past warranty?
