I have seen some reports of faulty ECUs and/or bad pins on the ECU causing a DRL failure on one side only. @MESO @OVTune any thoughts?

Same thing happened to me. One side died and they didn't want to do anything. Had to declare war and they did. After they threatened me with a $1000 bill.

Were they blaming failure on aftermarket equipment or mods?

I’m also curious. It would seems that short of splicing into the harness itself there isn’t much that could cause the DRL to fail. Even installing an HID bulb in the provided low beam socket shouldn’t cause an issue as the radiant heat from the 35w HID should, in theory, be equal to or less than the heat produced by the 55w halogen bulb provided from the factory.

Yeah. I didn't splice into anything. They kept telling me to take it back to who did the lights. I had to explain that the wiring schematic clearly shows the DRL runs on a completely separate relay. You could even activate the other side from the non-functioning one. It could run current, but just wouldn't turn on. It was completely isolated and they didn't even take the proper steps to troubleshoot. I did. I explained they can't deny warranty when it's completely unrelated. Had to call corporate. They got involved. I told the dealer to just order the headlight and see if it works. Dealer threatened to charge me if that wasn't the issue. I said fine because it's a faulty headlight. I did pull out the HID's and just pushed them forward then put the factory bulbs back in. When I went to pick it up, the work order stated "fault found internally on headlight, unit replaced". Estimated quote was $975 or something.

What were the aftermarket modifications? HID headlights? Light bars?

HID's, LED High Beam, Lightbar and Grill Lights. But they run independently without having anything to do with the DRL.

    Another case here.

    Zero mods on my truck.

LED strip works on headlight on (dimmed)

LED strip would NOT work on DLR switch position and handbrake off and/or driving.

swapped horn and Dlr relay and horn worked so relay works but it won’t make any sound or actually work when plugged on dlr plug.

10 amps fuse for DLR is perfect.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just for shits n giggles, swap the fuse for the replacement in the fuse cover and test again.

Jumper wire from slot 5 & 3, (relay removed) and again, verify.

I jumped the relay as you suggested and it worked.

Now, what should I do now? What would be the problem?

    thanks again!

Since you already tested the relay on the horn circuit, it leads to the actuation side (Negatively actuated). Unfortunately that is controlled by the Main Body ECU. A cut wire towards the cab, or the circuit no longer works.
Find the menu on the Head Unit, see if the setting is set to off.

So I lied… I do have only one Mod on my car and it is the head unit…. I bough a joying headunit (android based) that has Apple car play (my truck is 2019) and this mod that I did not shared with you. (Completely forgot) is relevant to the situation because the head unit under car info section, it lets turn on and off the DLRs but in my case for some reason I press the button and nothing happens… so thank you very much for your help and now I will move into the joying head unit thread to see if sometían help me over there.

    thanks!!

Thanks for the replies y'all. So, there's no relay in the small relay box, but I'll go through the main fuse box and check for a busted ten amp. The e brake was off, I read about that one. I've never done any mods. Any ideas?

No dice. All the fuses are good. But in my picture of the relay box you can see there's only one thing plugged in there. I think I'm missing something?

What picture do you speak of?
P.S. SR5 would not have the relay, since it doesn't have LED DRL's. The front HALOGEN turn signals lamps do dual work. Handled by the Combination Meter (Gauges Panel)

Sorry, I posted in a different thread and got mixed up, but you answered it anyway. And I fixed it. Somehow the cabin touch control panel settings for the lights must've been reset because that's all it was. Forgot that was even a setting, but I saw it on another thread. Thanks!
