DRL'S RANDOMLY TURNING ON DURING THE NIGHT

Aftermarket DRL question. DRL'S TURNING ON RANDOMLY DURING THE NIGHT. I had to use an add-a-fuse for the DRL function on my aftermarket headlights. The instructions say to plug into the ECU- no.3 and I've read elsewhere to plug into no.2. I've done both and they work fine that way however, my security cameras have shown that the DRL's turn on randomly during the night for at least 1 minute....anyone else experienced this? Is there somewhere else I can tap into that won't have this happen?

The tacoma does an automatic evap check 4-5 hours after you turn the truck off. @Puppypunter might know

 

Isn't there a factory DRL fuse?

 

I'm curious about this. Might be what it's doing

 

Since my model didn't have the factory DRL, the fuse spot is empty but has constant power. I imagine I'd have to tap into the actual DRL relay to gain the desired effect.

 

If you don't have LED DRL's there might be no wiring either.

 

Sounds like your security camera is lonely.

I thought the XSP package included DRL installed by the dealer? Perhaps they have instructions?

 

The picture is showing EFI No. 4 (15A) not EFI No. 3 (10A) like you have it.

 

The package had the halogen amber DRL. It comes with fender flares, predator bars, and beadlock wheels

 

Who installed it?
Did you correlate/ test the Evap response?

 

I typed the wrong thing. I'm tapped into efi no.4 (15a) just like the picture says to. I also tried no.3 (10a). Last night it turned on while tapped into efi no.4 and the night before it was in efi no.3

 

I installed it. Functions fine. Just want to know what's causing it to get power in the middle of the night.

 

According to this:

They both are in same circuit for the Leak Test Cycle after shutoff.

It's an option lol. I know the other thread I referenced was talking about raptor lights being tapped into the INJ fuse but im assuming the same applies to the headlights.

 

Using the provisions that are already there and adding a couple wires, fuse and relay in the stock locations seems like the obvious solution to me. It will be reliable, easy to troubleshoot should anything happen and it wont F with other systems like it currently does.

 

I installed Alpha Rexs and experienced the same thing. I’m not trying to fix it though because it looks cool. I wish it evap checked itself every hour
