New to the drone life. DJI Mini 2. Tough learning to fly when it's zero degrees out but figured out the hand launching and landing from the comfort of my truck.

3rd gen section probably has more instagrammers with drones.

That is a fixed wing UAV called an eBee X. Great mapping UAV! Yea we were trying to see if we could make a snow ortho and digital surface model over a lake. Its a real challenge over fresh snow.

Indeed difficult, you end up with almost no valid tie points in the imagery. We have had some success in utilizing high end lidar systems but even then it's hit or miss depending on snow cover. Possibly a RTK unit with a lot of control could work but now you're talking about a 15k+ set up and twice the time on site. You could take the Tacoma out and do donuts for a few hours until you have tie points!

Ha! I like the donut idea! This was actually a test for research on Northern lakes ..one idea for those lakes is to rip a perpendicular pattern of ski doo tracks and lay out a bunch of gcps. For this test we had a few gcps and did ppk the flight

Neat, a drone thread! I mostly shoot video, but here are some frame grabs:

Here's where I once popped a tire because I was flying the drone instead of looking out for sharp rocks:

Here's a short trailer for a short film I made last summer. I had just gotten my drone license and didn't have much experience still. Just a few drone drone shots.
