This is why I love and hate TW.
Now I have to learn about radiation level, drones, FAA regulations, and look at timelines.

They say, “curiosity killed the cat”.
Looks I’ll die here on TacomaWorld.

I was thinking to buy binoculars, I do have video camera but I don't think it can see that far.

As from locals, they tried to put up their own drones but upon approach battery died, drone dropped

Commercial pilot here, I spent Saturday night flying from NJ to NY and back renting with my brother (another pilot), we didn’t see a single “drone” - I have the Ring neighbors app downloaded and all the local posts are straight up airplanes in north jersey

I’ll take your word over the media, and social media.
I think a lot of this is founded on some truth, which then turned into a big “fish tale”.

If anything, I’ll have learned lot more useless knowledge by the time this is over.

I don’t know where you are in Illinois.
But I know they have drones that are very large that they use to spray pesticides.
I know they use them in parts of Texas.

I think DJI even makes a few.

Never seen or heard of them being used by us. My area has well over 10 airports in probably a 50 mile radius so we see plenty of crop dusters. I've actually worked for one of the local farm Co Ops for a very brief period of time and I never saw or heard anything about drones spreading fertilizer.

They are starting to become more common to be used in crops in fields where it's too wet for a wheeled sprayer and/or too small for a plane but they don't fly them at night.

Those are interesting. I don't think they are fertilizer drones. They didn't fly over fields and make lots of passes. Just flew over everything in a sort of grid pattern.

Unfortunately there’s no such thing as a thermal or infrared radar. Those are wildly different technologies operating on completely different principles from radar. A standard military radar can absolutely detect and track a drone of the size people claim to see. The radar I use can acquire, track and guide munitions onto small drones and it is nothing huge or fancy by some standards.
