Thanks for the information. Just makes me want to hold on to my money for anything more than a small toy longer.

It’s a very real possibility, luckily there’s a good amount of decent lobbyist who have been able to let the government know just how many entities utilize DJI products. The whole “China bad” push really got it a lot further then it needs to be.

If it is passed I’d say 90% of LE/ Public Safety would seize to use drones due to cost of “American Made” drones. Currently it’s about 3X the cost for half of the functionality of a DJI.

Have any "non-threat" (well, according to officials) manufacturers worked to match the capabilities of DJI so they can be "the Great American Hero" in the eyes of Washington? That seems the central argument ... that there are no competitive products with DJI for "objective capability" and too many legitimate agencies count on them for critical tasks.

No ... I am not an anti-China voice, but am trying to ask "objective questions".

China is not our pal and the line between business and state is blurry. Beijing can and will force a “private” company to spy on us if it benefits them. Look at HUAWEI.

Capabilities are already matched, it's just pricing that isn't. Autel and Skydio are two, three, four times the price of a comparable DJI. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next year. Even if they can prove they don't remotely send data anywhere unauthorized, nothing is stopping them from adding it back into an app later on after the heat dies down, y'know. They already removed automatic exporting and storage of flight data when this all started.

Drone information is the last thing chinas going to use to effectively spy on us, a million other things that currently give them way more information then some aerial footage.
