Several years ago I did, he gave me a glucose monitor and I saw it drop below 70 (it went to 63) one time when I felt like I was declining. I told him that and nothing ever came about. I will be mentioning it next time I go in though.

I lost close to 34lbs on the Keto diet in 3 months. Cutting out sugar and seriously lowering carb intake are the number one ways to lose fat. Second, HYDRATE. Drinking a gallon of water or more a day has numerous benefits. If your sleep, hydration, and nutrition aren’t locked in, anything you do won’t help to lose weight.

I've competed in powerlifting, trained bodybuilders, wrestled and coached wrestling and MMA fighters for the near part of 20 years. Spending 10 of those years as an Infantry officer in the Army also. In the past 5 years I've spent a great amount of time messing with intermittent fasting. Feel free to PM me for details but here is the short of it. 16 hours don't eat, for 8 hours eat. Agree with what many said, eliminate processed foods and sugars. This is my happy nerd place . Im happy to help and give more details.

I was in a similar boat OP. I started keto a few months ago and have dropped 40 lbs.
You can do it if you are motivated and stay committed to it.

    In a word: Crossfit.

Find a local box. Go. Listen to the coaches. Go every day. Ask questions about diet. Get good sleep. Cut out the BS and reduce your caloric intake and increase your capacity for working out. Make it a lifestyle and not just something you do to achieve XYZ. One year from now you'll look back at the old you and wonder how you ever got through life. It starts with today though.

While it sounds like this keto thing works for some people it goes against everything I've ever known about diet. I think I'll pass on a high fat diet because my family has a history of heart issues and diabetes. I dont need to exacerbate it.

I'll just cut down on my major carb intake (bread) and sugars and go from there.

@toysrgood Other suggestion that has worked for me: buy a mountain bike.

I'd rather put a gun in my mouth than go to the gym and be on a treadmill or whatever for an hour. Bought a bike, and it is one of my favorite things on this earth, and have definitely noticed a difference physically. Plus the MTB crowd is usually super supportive of each other!

Looks like some decent stuff at Poinsett Park:
    upload_2018-12-12_16-47-6.jpg

Can go easy, or as deep in the paint as you want. Best part of some of the struggling climbs, etc is getting to come back down afterwards!

Agreed. I use myfitnesspal a lot. Most restaurants are required to list calories now too, but myfitnesspal fills in when the restaurants I eat at don't list calories.
I didn't go full Keto, but I did increase my fat intake a lot. Dieting with a lot of protein is easier to keep full. My HDLs and LDLs have always been decent, but prior to my diet my triglycerides were literally off the charts. Now they are in the normal range. I don't think high fat is unhealthy.

Off-Roading is your best bet. You may not lose weight, but you'll have a fuck of a great time....

Yessir! I plan to work that into my routine. I've been to poinsett a couple of times on the bike but it is a real drag doing climbs when struggling just to breathe! I know it gets better it is just getting over that hump.

Haven't read all these legit posts, so apologies if it's been said.

Had some buddies that were just kind of musing about wanting to get back in shape. Then one of them said f it, get your wallets out. Weight loss percentage challenge over a few months.

Accountabilabuddies, plus cash on the line. The winner from our crew bought himself a new Traeger with the money.

If you have a few friends that might be down, it's worth asking around.

Yeah, feeling like you're gonna stroke out comes with the learning curve. But that feeling when you finally are able to ride up something you've struggled on in the past is one of the best feelings!

I'll have to look more into it but it just goes against my intuition. I mean even places like mayo clinic say that high fat diets contribute to heart disease. I don't want to get into a debate about it's benefits here though, I know there is plenty of back and forth on it elsewhere.
