That's the purpose of the dumpster fire thread... so we have an outlet for our childish nonsense.

But I dont see anything wrong with making lil jokes here and there to keep things fun(except when on the subject of actual tragedies like the bus and kids thing). If this site was all serious all the time it wouldn't have many members.

It's okay to have fun in life... otherwise what's the point.

    Worked for these guys.

"To nail the safety message home, they staged a simple but effective collision course beside a haunting burnt-out hulk. (That is, the remains of a building where there’d been a fire, not an over-exposed superhero.) Carefully coached, we drove without braking at 30 km/h directly at a cardboard cutout of a Toyota-branded minivan, solid-looking enough to a radar system. The automatic emergency brake worked each time, completely halting us several inches from the “van”."

My sandbag and sawhorse test recommendation would be legitament, it would determine if there's a radar malfunction of the system.

Camera would capture all the necessities like the speed, distance before brake application and if it fails, proof of need for warranty work.

I thought when I reviewed the owners manual for the 2019 it indicated it does brake.

I reviewed that section after the school bus crash that killed the three kids. I was wondering if TSS would have prevented it.

it does. mine actually brakes when using the adaptive cruise control when it senses a car in front. so the boxes wouldve been a test of full braking.

Same... I love this feature in cruise control. But I have noticed myself getting somewhat complacent while driving my Optima on the interstate now...

I have no experience with TSS. My Subaru Legacy did auto brake once. Someone was driving and went between a tractor in front, and a tractor trailer behind. I don't know if the car applied the brakes, or if the engine stopping accelerating.

After reading all the posts, watching the linked videos, and reading through the linked articles I am no closer to knowing if it does or doesn't brake...

    So much conflicting information

All I can tell you is that the Canadian market trucks 100% have AEB, because my truck brakes for no good reason all the time. The main reason is that the car in front has moved into a turning lane on an 80 km/hour road and for some reason the system thinks I am going to rear end them even though they are fully in the turning lane. And I have to clean up the coffee in the cupholder when I get home.

In the video, the radar is not seeing the cardboard, it is seeing the metal frame behind it. You are quite unlikely to get a good radar return off of cardboard.
