    oh gotcha...my bad.

Now that you mention it....clogged cats are a possibility...good call.

OP: Start up your truck, let it get to operating temperature and look at the cat(s). If its glowing red hot, then it clogged.

You can also hold your hand over the exhaust outlet at operating temp. If its so excessively hot that you can't hold your hand over it for more than a few seconds, that is also a good indication that your cat(s) are clogged.

Ok I'll try that in the morning and get back to you guys, I know this is a dumb question but isn't the cat between two o2 sensors? And if my "cats" are glowing how shall I clean them?

If the cat is clogged, its no good and you replace it.

they aren't that expensive. Magnaflow cats are like $150, buy them online and take them to a muffler shop to weld them in.

You could straight pipe or hollow out the cats, but they are there for a reason. And straight piping them will make you throw a CEL unless you run an O2 sim.

I think I will just buy a new cat, my father knows how to weld. But what is weird is my trick is slowly day by day running just a little bit better. I would punch it on an uphill then it would bog for a second then just pull hard until 3-4.5 rpms then it would shift and keep pullin. It's the weirdest freaking thing. Thanks for all the help everybody! I will post again if there is another problem or if the new cat doesn't work!

Not noticeable, but I think it is my cat Becuz, the po171 code is about the 02 sensor I replaced and it's still on so it must be the cat. I found a magnaflow cat for 160... Good or bad???

    thats about right.

Is it direct fit or weld in? If its a weld in have a flange welded to it to connect to the header down pipe. because if you ever put headers on the truck or need to take the manifold off you will have to slice up your exhaust.

Do you have 2 cats or one?

i think its definitely your cat, and adding the K&N CAI made the engine breathe better and exacerbate the problem. More air in to motor, trying to to force its way through a clogged cat.

LCE engineering also sells direct fit cats for a good price

tonight i will clean out my throttle body, knock the center out of my cat, and put some more gas in because i put a whole thing of sea foam in my tank which would treat 16-25 gallons and i had like 4 or 5 gallons so i think it might of been running very rich and boggy.

ok, so i gut out my muffler, hoping that my theory of "more air coming in, means more air has to come out". Now it runs better than it did so i think im gonna buy a muffler to improve the airflow. I was thinking of the flowmaster 44 series for like 80 bucks or so.

    go magnaflow, not chokemaster.

I regret getting my flowmaster, it sounds pretty good but a magnaflow will flow better and sound better
