@drtfabrication any idea if this would fit a 1st gen or how much work it might take to do so?

edit - actually think my shock relocation would probably be in the way.

Same here, the BSM has saved my ass many times when backing out of my canyon-like driveway.

There are a few threads on relocating the BSM and one where he successfully has them in the tail lights (custom housing).

Pretty sure all of the bumpers have the holes for the parking sonar…it’s just holes.

Even the backup sensors require drilling holes.

Ahhhh didn’t know that was the case with the DRT one, all of the other ones I’ve been considering offer the option for the parking sensor holes.

Not the end of the world to drill holes but more stuff to do

I’m working on finalizing all these little things. Accessories for swing outs, back up sensor kit, plug and play wiring harnesses for lights, back up camera Etc.

The sensors don’t like to stay in the bumpers with holes. The mounting thickness for the sensors is about a 1/16 vs the 3/16 bumpers are.

I will be doing a bolt on kit that fixes this but also by design I can’t “just put holes” it will have to be a drill and mount solution but I will have the option to have it done by me. My bumper measures 4” tall where the sensors would be. Offering the highest clearance of any production bumper I know of but comes with forming limitations. The sensor holes would deform when the bumper is bent.

if you choose to add them your self it will come with a easy to use laser cut template to mark out hole locations

That’s a good point on the sensors, it looks like the other mfgs just make a hole for it….I’m assuming all of the good quality ones are the same thickness.

At least if you guys offered them they’d be cleaner and not near any gussets….(worst case some weather strip adhesive to hold in place?)

What kind of time frame are you looking at to address those things?

Asking because I’m considering this with the swing out and those would be nice to have resolved …..would it be at additional cost?
(I guess the other brands charge for the cam relocation but usually not the lights or sensor holes)

Cool, I'm definitely interested........been wanting to get one for years, a few months more is no biggie!

Can the S2 lights be installed/removed while the bumper is on the truck?
    ......not sure of the gusseting.

I wonder if messing around with cardboard mockups first would be faster, then going into CAD/3d print a prototype.
Seems like a lot is lost on paper and screen vs having your hands in it.

both have their advantages. I designed my roof rack with CAD but after I did some measurements with cardboard. 3d scanners have come a long way and can make a huge difference for design. granted I haven't had that pleasure yet so I use a combo of both.

3D scanner is the way. Much faster/easier to make changes and work around things. Prototyping is fit proof of concept

This new DRT plate bumper is a killer option for anyone who might be thinking about getting one or someone shopping around doing research. For anyone who knows DRT's work, it's top quality and his design is unique which stands out from most options available today.

I've been rocking this bumper for a short time, but I finally just got it fully outfitted with my winch, recovery shackles, and all the lights it can fit. I just wanted to show this bumper off for anyone who needed to see it and to also help DRT get some more shoutouts for the great work Derik does.

Thanks for a badass bumper Derik, definitely my new favorite plate bumper for the 3rd Gen Tacoma!
