I'm looking at replacing some of the rear end suspension and I'm thinking of starting with the drum brakes before I get started.

I see some AcDelco drum brakes for less than 3 times the price of units on CB Toyota. The ones on my '01 DC have been there since day 1. Is this a time when going oem is a must?

For the last 10 years I have been going with Napa Ultra Premium brake products .

It has no bearing on Napa that the delivery Woman looks really good

    Based on solid reasoning .

I'll take a look at Napa's offerings. There's one not far from here but with my luck I won't find any eye candy behind the counter.

You might check out Centric drums and brake products. I used them on my 4Runner as well as the pads and rotors on my Tacoma. I have the drums, wheel cylinders and shoes on the shelf in the garage.

The conclusion I'm coming to is that oem isn't critical.

I'll look at both brands and make a purchase. Thanks guys.

Are you planning to replace the drums, or just the shoes? A Toyota OEM shoe kit is under a hundred dollars as I recall and replaces the shoes on both sides.

Drums and shoes to start. Then will be looking at replacing the leafs and shocks.

My dad ended up in a fender bender once that resulted the bed developing an odd tilt so at some point the whole rear suspension is going to get replaced. I'm just starting slow.

It comes down to just what one likes .

As long as the cost is all within the same range .

Lots of Brake parts are being made in China they are still working on the quality control concept.

I like to buy local for non specialty parts for the reason if something is wrong for any reason which happens all to often these days it can be fixed that day or the next
