I watched this video before and during my journey into drum brake land. Great video.

    Never give up. :)

Double check that the pistons are, indeed, all of the way compressed. They just look as if they are out too far.
In fact, compare their appearance to the cylinder in the video you watched...

I double checked that they were compressed all the way and just changed the new one out for another new one thinking it was a defective cylinder. Still no go.

Make sure you screwed the adjuster all the way down before you reassemble.

Remove the master cylinder reservoir fill cap to allow the fluid to easily move out of the wheel cylinder. That had happened to me more than one once swapping pads and rotors, damn pistons wouldn’t retract……..

Congratulations! I haven't touched a drum brake since the early 90's and I didn't really care for those jobs back then. I had a great mechanic working beside me that I could always ask WTH?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Glad you got it figured out.

Getting the wrong parts happens way to often any more.

Any more i compare the parts coming off to the ones going on real close.

My general rule of thumb when doing drums is work on one side and leave the other side alone as a reference!! Not many drum setups are the same and rear brakes, especially drums, last so long that it's easy to be out of practice on them. Many rear drums on our trucks don't require any replacement of parts for 150k-200k as long as they are cleaned and lubed occasionally. Usually rear brakes really only do about 10-15% of the braking most of the time anyways. Which is why doing a rear disc brake conversion is not really a big upgrade IMO. Heck in areas with salt on the roads the rear disk becomes corroded since the pads aren't clamping as much, causing vibration/noise due to the corrosion build-up on the rotor surface and requires the pads/rotors to be replaced pre-maturely anyways, so in that case it's actually more frequent work than drum brakes.
