We're up to 9 for the GP! We only need 3 more folks to sign up to get the 20% discount from RT for the buy. Please check out the Group Buy thread and get in on this while it's still open, and I've no idea when this thing will close, though I hope it's when we get over our minimum!

Thanks to those that have signed up! :D

Thank you all for your patience with my incessant bumping of this thread, but we're nearly to our group buy minimum, and I want as many old regs and new folks to see this as possible.

Unfortunately the folks that I PM'd that missed the last group buy a year and a half ago, have not responded, but on the upside, we're picking up more new people from this thread, which has made it all worth it.

I know there'll be people who will kick themselves for missing this thing later on (I was one of those when the last buy happened), so I hope all that can get in on it will jump soon.

We're up to 10 of the 12 needed for a minimum of 20% off the buy! I encourage those interested to read/skim the group buy thread from the beginning (likely any questions you have about materials, etc., will be answered in previous posts), and then head to the last page, copy/paste the list to your reply and add your name.

    Thanks again for everyone's interest!

I didn't mean to confuse anyone; this is, as the header says, just a thread to 'drum up interest' in the GB thread in the Group Buys section in the forums.

To everyone: THIS IS NOT THE GROUP BUY THREAD. If you are interested in the tailgate reinforcement for 05+ Tacomas, go to this thread and sign up.

I'm sure RT's a busy guy, and I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it would be easiest if you go to Relentless Fabrication's website and punch it up. It depends on what you want specifically, and then if we get the minimum number of buyers, take 20% off of that. Then add shipping. I know he said he would like a minimum number of 4 for the aluminum diamond plate, which is what I'm getting, but I don't think it's any more than the aluminum that's listed under his product page. (PLEASE, someone correct me if I'm wrong!)

Please be sure to read through the GROUP BUY THREAD, as most questions may be answered that way, but if not, PM RelentlessTaco, the OP for the group buy.

    Here's RT's website: http://www.relentlessfabrication.us/

Go to products and go from there.

I hope you'll sign up too! I'm in no way related or anything to RT, the product or anything, I just really, really (a WHOLE WHOLE LOT!) want this group buy discount to work out for me and everyone else.

    Thanks!

We've got our minimum of 12 to go through with a 20% off group buy!!! Thanks to everyone for their patience and for signing up!

This is a LAST CHANCE to get in on this before the group hands it over to RT to start processing orders. Please head on over to the group buy thread and sign up before the weekend is out. I've made a motion to close the list by Sunday (10/26/14) to move things forward while we still have an active group, unless RT or someone else wants more time or something. (I don't see that happening, but who knows)

    YAAAAY!!

RT says we need 3 more people. Surely there has to be a few more here that are interested!?

Please see the GROUP BUY THREAD to sign up!

And here are some pix to help the unsure see why this reinforcement is absolutely necessary:
If you look past the dent, the reflection ismy ol' man's '95 Taco. [IMG]

This happened when I tried to load my ol' man's bike up in the back when he broke down. Having the tailgate collapse was very upsetting. It was a LOT worse than it is now, he pushed it mostly back in, but you can obviously see where it happened. My truck is a worker, but I don't like it looking any crappier than it has to, you understand.

I'm interested, but I'd like to understand the gap between the door and the reinforcing plate. Plastic cover fits nice and tight. Also, can we order powder coated?

Please look through the Group Buy thread from the beginning. Someone posted pictures of the very small gap between the tailgate and the plate, and described it as being so narrow that he could barely get his fingertip/nail into the gap, despite how close-up the pic looks.

And yes, you absolutely can get powdercoat. Please see Relentless Fabrication's website where these will be manufactured, go to the products page. When you get to the tailgate plate page, there are options for powdercoat.

Any other questions, I'm sure RT will be happy to answer a PM. He's the OP of the group buy thread, and has been checking in here also.

Gap at the center is tight, however tailgate has a slight curve to it (thinner at the sides, fatter in the middle) so the ends gap a bit more. Maybe a 1/4" or so at the ends

I teach welding and fabricating and have a 300 ton press brake (CNC) this is a good price on these the metal alone is a good chunk of the cost. for about 120 bucks you cant beat it..

Are the stock screws long enough to secure the metal and the original cover?

I certainly believe so, never heard otherwise. The reinforcement adds .100" or less so that's not much more to hold down for them
