I have for sale 5 very gently used ashiko drums.
All are stave built from local hardwoods and finished with premium components such as 1/4” cold rolled steel, low stretch rope, and Ivory Coast goat hides.
They measure 12” across the top and 26 1/2” tall.

First up is crafted from reclaimed wormy chestnut. This drum has a warm kinda muted sound almost like a conga. What it lacks in bass and sustain it makes up for by being maybe the only ashiko in existence made from this gorgeous (nearly) extinct wood lol.

Next we have one built with 3 alternating sections each of walnut and maple (some of it birdseye)

I took 2 pics of this one to showcase its variety of colors. Built from alternating walnut and cherry. Some of the walnut is spalted.

The greenish hue of poplar really shows in this one :)
There is a reason instrument builders use this species...its bright tones sound awesome583EECB6-4252-49D2-AE97-555ABD50C373.jpg

And lastly here’s one made from 3 alternating sections each of curly maple and some kind of reclaimed flooring I think cypress or cedar cuz it smelled crazy when I was working it lol

As you can see these drums are very lightly played as the heads are still covered with goat stubble :)
    8330345C-AF11-4DE0-B5B2-25D5246B513D.jpg

I am asking $150 each shipped or $275 for two. PayPal ftmfw.
This low price reflects the fact that I am no professional woodworker and there are minor cosmetic “imperfections”. I am proud to say, however, that these drums (properly tuned of course) sound better than any ashikos I’ve played with clear tones and bass for days.

So if anybody’s interested hit me up :)
I can take more pics too...

Also I might could be talked into doing a custom build if there is a wood species and/or rope color that you’d be interested in....just sayin.....

Hey......the IMPERFECTIONS make them better - show that they are not mass produced!!! I like your wood combos, too. I gave some American chestnut to a guy who makes guitars and such for some professionals (I think Emmylou Harris was one) and amateurs, but have since retired so I am not sure what instrument he used it on. Butternut and ash would look good for another one. Spalted maple and hickory would be other choices.

If I had a use for these I would buy the chestnut one!!! Good luck!

I might consider swapping the 4 wt fly outfit for the chestnut drum (if you could change out the ropes for red and white - my son goes to YSU) and $200 cash from you........waddya think??

Not a definite offer yet, as I need to see if my son would want one.

Let me know if you would consider it and I will check with him in the mean time.
