Hi I new to the Tacoma world . Now he is my problem I took off my drum brakes because the e brake was not working . Upon the removal I notice the the passenger drum looks like a driver side because the ebrake hole is on the left side . Is there away to fix this ?

Lol, what I meant was yours is a 5 lug axle and mine is a 6 lug and I'm not entirely sure the brake configuration is the same. :)
I also don't know the correct answer to your question...my apologies for the confusion.

I can only guess that maybe the backing plate was replaced at some time with the wrong side?? Try posting your pic and question in this forum, you should get the correct answer there

The round thing you removed to see the brake shoes is the "drum"

The part that the brake shoes are mounted on is called a backing plate.

I would not say "easy" but I would say "not hard". You need to find the part, which might be a challenge.

So would it better to find a whole axle from a donor truck or just get the back plate .

Well I went to a pick a part and found a back plate with the shaft . Came home with the shaft and it too short . But the back plate is the same . Called a shop for a swap and they told me 189 to do the job .
