DSC adjuster tips

    Hey everyone,

    Do you have any tips on adjusting the Fox 2.5 DSC? My understanding is that from the factory, when fully open, the DSC results in the shocks behaving like stock. However, as you increase the adjusters the shocks just get stiffer. Under what circumstances would you want the shocks to be stiffer? What exactly is the tradeoff of making it stiffer? For example, would maxing out the low speed and high speed stiffness result in the best handling but the harshest ride? Thanks for your advice.

    From my personal experience...
    i purchased my tacoma months after my wife owning the 2019 pro 4runner..the suspension felt a lil "spungy", my first time in any 4runner so i really couldnt complain. Smooth ride and all, but from owning a lancer evo with stiff ride and awesome cornering, it was different for me to get used to. So when it was time to purchase my 20 trd offroad the ride felt better than the 4runner, again im used to firm suspension. So yes the two are completly different setups so i opted to get fox dsc's all around. Well for the first couple months it felt too stiff, i kept adjusting and adjusting looking online for answers, etc. It took awhile i guess for the shocks to settle in, but wow it takes corners almost as well as the evo did..No spungy feeling at all. For offroading i would adjust them all the way down but then there was times that it felt it would bounce too much so i would adjust them stiffer. The rears was a different story. I added leafs to get my ride height so no lift blocks. The rear was stiff pretty much at all times. I wanted to purchase a set of leaf packs but prices are too high for me. So now im on chevy 63 with fox 2.5 12inch w/ resi- no adjusters. The ride now is a night and day difference. My dsc's were stock with no tunning so maybe there is a happy medium to be found. So to answer your question you just need to drive your truck around and adjust to your liking. All roads are different and all trucks are different. It is what you prefer as the end result, limit nose diving when braking and sagging while on the throttle. There is a youtube video blind testing suspension on a tacoma. Its so funny because when they tested the fox 2.5s dsc i had the same opinion as they did. Its a great vid and you should check it out.
    So the little knob i determined helped with sway and the big knob for firmness. Yes i know isnt that the samething, From expierence when i lowered em all down it swayed and had lots of body roll. When i adjust the big knob all the way down and the little knob all the way up, i had less sway and felt a lil spungy..im sorry i dont know which is high speed and low speed, hold on ill go check, litlle gold knob is high speed and large blue knob slow speed. So like i said for cornering with all adjuster stiff i would drive the mountains road faster and get to my trails and adjust a lil softer. Sorry for the long write up but im just trying to be honest from own expierence.

    Oh also by the way, my tacoma is my daily driver and i purchased it in oct 2019, i currently have 148k miles on it. And the fox 2.5s are still good no leaks, i never had them "rebuilt" seals new oil etc. The manual says, i think, rebuild after 10k miles for harsh offroaders and 50k for street drivers..Im way past that and they still perfomed. Go fox.lol
