After awhile of listening to pink noise, your ears start to go numb :) in the morning it will sound different, it will sound clear and perfect after your ears have a chance to rest.

funny how that works but it does sound damn near perfect to me this morning lol. I don’t think I’m allowing the rears to fill in enough bc they’re toned to -4.5db. Gonna play with it some more but I’m not far off

I turned my rears up just enough that my kids can hear them over the subwoofer, but not high enough that I can hear them (the speakers and the kids )

Just got my 4 channel amp mounted and wires ran to front for the morel ccwr 254s on each side of truck. I’ve decided I’m going to go ahead and use the morels for more midrange in the sail panels. I think 3 way may be needed to get my signal frequencies completely flat under power with the dsp. I’ll finish up sail panels and connections tomorrow hopefully. Do you think I’d be better off running little focal tweeters in sails and morels in dash corner or vice versa? Also would it be the time to put my powered 3 way clarion crossover to use since I’m going this route? For added protection. Obviously the JL twk will control the most.

I would wire your truck up to how it will be in the future. So run the 3 way wires, even if you dont use them yet, you might in the future. Put the morels in the dash, and the focal tweeters in the sail panels.

Yeah I ran everything besides power and ground( ran out of time or I’d ran those to front floor mat also)from 4 channel amp to each side of front dash and I’m pretty sure this is it. All I can do as far as speakers in this truck as I’ll have 10 altogether including my powered sub. Two morels in dash focal tweets in sails and woofers in fronts and rear doors. I’ll likely take the coax in rears off the twk and put the morels on it and have pretty much what you’re doing besides you having all 10 on dsp. I’m wondering if I now would get benefit of the clarion and possibly remove the passives from focals up front or if I should just sell it. I honestly don’t really see how it would benefit me running the active at this point but thought I should ask first to you audio guys who’ve helped me so much along the way. I may remove the passive crossover altogether now... opinion? Are you running passive up front?

Im not running passive crossovers on my speakers, my dm810 handles all that stuff. You can keep the passive crossovers in the system, then when you are ready to go full active, just move the wires from the crossovers to the amp. If your wires for full active, its easy to swap back and forth from active to passive. If you wired for passive, its much harder to swap back and forth.

Running active allows you to time align the tweeters and woofers separately. It also enables you to run more power up front. With the JL DSP, it also gives you 10 EQ bands for each speaker, instead of 10 for the whole component set. Hopefully you wouldn't need that many but you'd have them available.

Try not to get too fixated on achieving a ruler flat response. It's a trap for people with OCD.

I see that! I’m slightly ocd about my tunes and want them to sound perfect and hear all the sounds and instruments. Im gonna just get it as close as possible then make small tweaks by ear from there. The JL twk is a powerful little tool! I really like it.

I’m not sure that I specified that very well. In that particular statement when I said active I was referring to my active/powered 3 way clarion crossover and I think you read it as active as in amplifying all speakers but I could be wrong

Active means you send band limited signal into the amplifier from an electronic crossover. The literal purpose is to have an amplifier channel for each speaker.

So, yes that’s how I read it. Because that’s what active means. There are nuance exceptions but I don’t recommend mixing active and passive crossovers.

Active - crossover before the amplifier.
Passive - crossover after the amplifier.

There’s literally nothing that Clarion can do that the JL can’t do better. I don’t recommend that you use it.

Yeah I’m gonna put the clarion on the market! I thought that would likely be the answer but wanted to make sure. Thanks! So I’m not going to delete rears from twk I’m gonna Y connect them and do the 4.1 setup on the twk... just won’t be able to time align the rears. should I set all crossovers to band passed on twk doing this? Damn I can’t wait to get this done! I’m ready for more front power

that will be a nice setup. I ended up with a lower end Focal setup. thats solid. Maybe one day ill step up to the higher end setups.

This is great to hear. I want to run a DSP to improve the Android HU which I am also running.

the ISC 165 Focals I felt were not too high. Not as high as the higher end models but def agree there.

I was looking at the audiocontrol and JL DSPs. Anyone have feedback on Pros/Cons of either.

I’d say the only con to either one would be price as they’re both really powerful dynamic and incredible units.. I love my JL twk 88 but I’m positive I’d probably feel the same about the audio control units. Price foot print brand name and software preference is what ultimately made my decision for me in the end. I dint think you’d get as much out of it with full range speakers but the others on here who are way more advanced than me could tell you better than me. Read @dolbytone on the first page and @rob feature @5nahalf posts along with others on first page As they’ve got lots of experience and have great info on these DSPs throughout this thread. @JDattilio has been extremely helpful too as he’s pretty much an expert installer and audio system builder but doesn’t post as much
