Looking to put a dual battery system in my 3rd gen. I'll like to locate the two battery in the same factory location that has the single battery now. I haven't seen one for 3rd gen. Does anyone know of a fab shop built tray?

    Thanks

I haven't seen one yet but also looking. If I don't find one I like and at the right price by summer I'll just weld up my own.

I know there is not much room but the driver side doesn't need more weight. I'm assuming the 3rd gen is set up similar to 2nd gen: on the driver side you have, gas tank, steering, battery and driver. When I installed my 5100's, the driver side spring was almost 3/16th's lower than the passenger side. I swapped them. I've installed my battery tray on the passenger side, in place of the air duct. Still a work in progress ...

The tray may look tilted, but it's perfectly leveled; it's actually better leveled than OEM tray.

Haven't decided what to do with the 'hole' in the air box. I don't think it'll pass smog like that. May have to remove battery and tray and install the OEM duct every two years. May buy a Spectre or other low flow filter to plug the hole, or buy some duct and reroute it.

Also very interested in this, if someone finds something or is building custom ones.

I have a large open place on the passenger side against the firewall. I would think this would be the best location. My Duramax has its extra battery in the same spot.

Lucky u, i have the ABS thingy in that corner. Another owner with my year Taco relocated the PS pump and put the battery up against the front support, between radiator and washer reservoir. To me it appeared easier to deal with the air duct system.

Except for the battery, and free time, I have everything I need to get this done. Doing the big 3 upgrade next - upgrading the existing wiring. Was looking at the wiring this afternoon. My Taco alternator wire is four gauge and goes to the circuit breaker box. Then a SIX gauge wire goes out from under the box to the alternator. Replacing that six gauge wire does not look feasible without taking apart the breaker box. I'm gonna have two gauge wire everywhere but there. Will look at the other threads to see what folks are doing. I'm up to page eleven of the Dual Battery Setup thread and haven't seen anyone replacing that wire. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-them-multiple-batterys-thread.295653/page-11
